Investigation Discovery is dropping bombshells again. After the massive success of Quite on Set, the channel has come forth with another outing that focuses on a few tales talking about behind-the-scenes struggles in many series. In the latest episode of Hollywood Demons, the writer and actor from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers opened up about how tough it was to work on the action-packed series.
Shedding light on many situations that a lot of people had to face, Audri Dubois also spilled the tea about a background actor. “When we’re shooting the pilot, we’re out in the desert — it’s got to be 110 degrees — and someone has heat stroke,” the actress who originally played Yellow Ranger, Trini, stated in an Entertainment Weekly preview.
She then continued to state that the background actor in question was one of the bad guys wearing a wet suit, having a rubber mask over the head and only had pinholes for the eyes and mouth.
“He’s flopping around like a fish. … Me and the others had come together and agreed we were not going to continue shooting until this guy gets in an ambulance,” the actress recalled.
However, unfortunately, Dubois was then recast with Thuy Trang even before the pilot aired. Talking about Trang she left the show in season 2 following some serious contract disputes.
Audri Dubois continued that the production later offered $100 to anyone who would get into the suit and help them begin filming the episode. Surprisingly, “someone did. The original then was in his underwear in the dirt, flopping around waiting for an ambulance,” the former Yellow Ranger stated.
While all of this already had scared Audri Dubois, head writer Tony Oliver added to her words that the contract let the production abuse actors and allowed them to work to death.
The Power Rangers have always been one of the most loved series since, making appearances in four feature films and over 25 TV series.
