Actor R Madhavan recently got candid about his wife, Sarita Birje’s influence on his life and career. The actor revealed how Sarita encouraged him to work during the pandemic. She was also the one who noticed his state of mind, which made him reassess his choice of films.
In a chat with the YouTube channel Unfiltered Entertainment, R Madhavan said, “My wife says you’ll never be able to get out of work — you do Tamil comedy, Tamil action, OTT, Hindi action, English OTT. I am surprised you are at home. During COVID in 2020, she kicked me out of the house and told me, ‘Go out, do some work, earn money.’”
Madhavan also credited his wife for noticing his state of mind, which led him to take a pause. She saw how his attitude towards work had changed. “One day, my wife asked me, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ She said that you are going to work like you want to come back from it. That actually made a lot of sense,” Madhavan said.
During an interview with Just Too Filmy in 2023, R Madhavan revealed Sarita’s views on how he manages his finances. He said, “My wife thinks I am generous to a fault. And I am a fool. And I don’t know how to handle my money. She thinks I keep giving it away. I think I’m very particular about it, but she says, ‘Not even from a remote corner are you particular about it.’ I spend what I have.”
Meanwhile, on the film front, R Madhavan was recently seen in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. Dhurandhar, which released in theatres on December 5, features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal and Rakesh Bedi. The film began streaming on Netflix on January 30, with its sequel slated for a theatrical release on March 19. Set against major geopolitical events such as the Kandahar hijack and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, the film is produced by B62 Studios and Jio Studios.
