Rajpal Yadav reacts to Priyadarshan’s ‘poor education’ comment amid the cheque bounce case, saying he is well educated and that such judgments hold no value.

Rajpal Yadav has responded strongly to Priyadarshan’s ‘poor education’ remark, saying he is well educated and that such judgments “don’t hold value.”
Actor Rajpal Yadav, who has been in the spotlight following his surrender in a 2012 cheque-bounce case, addressed the controversy surrounding remarks made by filmmaker Priyadarshan. After spending time in Tihar Jail, Rajpal was granted interim bail until March 18 to attend a family wedding. On Saturday, he held a press conference in Mumbai and later spoke to SCREEN, where he reacted firmly to comments made about his education.
What Priyadarshan Had Said
In a recent interview, Priyadarshan spoke about his long association with Rajpal, recalling how he first noticed him in Jungle (2000) and later cast him in Malamaal Weekly (2006). The director revealed that he had asked producers of his next film to pay Rajpal more than his usual fee, citing concern over the actor’s current situation.
He also remarked that Rajpal had made a “blunder because of his poor education,” while describing him as a “good soul” and expressing a desire to support him.
“Poor Education Doesn’t Apply Here”
Reacting to the statement, Rajpal strongly disagreed.
“This is completely wrong. Priyanji doesn’t know me. I am a well-educated guy. I have been working since the age of 11 to 55. Even the biggest stalwarts land in trouble at some point, but that has nothing to do with their education. Had I been poorly educated, I wouldn’t have survived here for 25-30 years,” he said.
The actor also clarified that he holds Priyadarshan in high regard.
“I respect three directors a lot — Mr. Ram Gopal Verma, David Dhawan and Priyadarshan. I look up to them. I have done more than 50 films with just the three of them. I am like Priyanji’s son. But Priyanji or anyone from Bollywood doesn’t know the whole story, so any judgments from them don’t hold value,” Rajpal added.
Upcoming Projects
Despite ongoing legal challenges, Rajpal Yadav says he remains professionally active. He confirmed that he will be working with Priyadarshan again in Bhoot Bangla. He is also part of Welcome To The Jungle, which features an ensemble cast of 27 actors, and Haiwaan, where he plays what he described as a small yet impactful role.
Additionally, he has two web series and two other films lined up, details of which he has not yet disclosed.
On Asking For Work
When asked about actor Sonu Sood’s comment regarding offering him work, Rajpal dismissed the idea that he needs assistance.
“Please get over the misconception that I need to keep asking for work. And there is no shame in asking for work. Cinema is my passion. I work in such a way that I get four times more work. I even work on vacations. Work doesn’t find me, it has lived with me for the last 11 years,” he said.
