Sanya Malhotra’s Mrs has been getting an overwhelming response from the audience. The film, released on OTT, narrates the plight of Indian women who find their voices muted within the patriarchal walls of domesticity, post their marriage. Recently, the actress took to her social handle and thanked all fans for showering love on the film.
She also shared a dance video along with a note, “Richa’s story is finding its way into so many hearts and I couldn’t be more grateful. To my ‘prime numbers’ thank you for watching, feeling, and celebrating with me. #MrsOnZEE5 Choreography by the amazing @brinda_gopal mam.” One of the fans wrote, “Thanks for reminding us that we are prime numbers.” Another wrote, “After many years, this is a reality check movie. What an acting performance.”

In a conversation with PTI, Sanya Malhotra said that she knows that some people are getting triggered by Mrs, while others are getting emotional looking at their story being featured in a film. She said that this was why the makers decided to direct Mrs. Sanya noted that the film was very personal for her and remains relevant as she knows people who have gone through similar circumstances as the protagonist Richa.
Directed by Aarti Kadav, Mrs revolves around a young woman who holds a passion for dancing, struggling to find her voice after her marriage to a successful man. It shows her journey as she deals with endless social expectations and finally forges her own path.

Hence, it helped her resonate with the character more. “The idea was to make the film more palatable for the North Indian audiences,” she said.
Sanya won the Best Actress award for her performance in Mrs at the 2024 New York Indian Film Festival. The actress also received a standing ovation for her portrayal at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2024. Apart from her, Mrs features actors Nishant Dahiya, Siya Mahajan, and Kanwaljit Singh in key roles.
