Political leaders expressed condolences and called for a thorough investigation after a high-intensity explosion rocked the national capital, killing 9 people so far.

Leaders from various political parties expressed shock and grief after a deadly explosion at the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening triggered panic and chaos in the national capital. The explosion has killed nine people so far, with 20 others injured, according to sources. Follow LIVE UPDATES Here

President Droupadi Murmu expressed grief over the incident, saying, “I convey my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in the blast that has taken place in Delhi. I pray for quick recovery of those injured.”

“Deeply anguished by the blast in Delhi this evening. Heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones, and prayers for the swift recovery of the injured,” said Vice President CP Radhakrishnan.

Union Minister Amit Shah, who is overseeing security preparations in the aftermath of the blast, said, “Pained beyond words by the loss of lives in a blast in Delhi. My deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. Have visited the blast site and also met the injured in the hospital. My prayers for their quick recovery.”

Delhi Minister Praveen Khandelwal said he was “deeply saddened” by the car explosion and thanked the Delhi Fire Department, Police, and emergency services for their prompt response and efforts to control the situation. “As the elected representative of Chandni Chowk, I stand in solidarity with the people during this difficult time and assure all possible support and cooperation to the administration,” he added.

“Anguished by the loss of lives in the tragic car blast in New Delhi. My heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Praying for the swift recovery of the injured. Authorities are ensuring that all necessary medical assistance reaches the injured,” said BJP National President JP Nadda.

“Shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the blast in Delhi. My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. In this difficult hour, prayers for strength and peace for all affected. Wishing a swift and complete recovery to those injured,” said BJP leader and Rajasthan Minister Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore.

Opposition Leaders Calls For Thorough Probe

Taking to X, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrote, “The news of the car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station is extremely heartbreaking and concerning. The report of the deaths of several innocent people in this tragic incident is profoundly sorrowful.”

“In this hour of grief, I stand with the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones and express my deepest condolences to them. I hope for the swift recovery of all the injured,” he added.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi called for a thorough investigation of the incident and extended her condolences to the victims. “The news of the explosion near the Red Fort is extremely alarming. I pray to God that there has been no damage and everyone is safe,” she said on X.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also expressed her shock at the incident, saying, “My heart goes out to the families who have lost their loved ones and I pray for strength and a swift recovery for all those injured.”

“Shocked and deeply pained by the explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that has taken several innocent lives. Visuals from the site are truly heartbreaking. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and my thoughts are with those battling injuries. Wishing them strength and a swift recovery,” said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed “deep shock over the blast in Delhi close to Red Fort, which has claimed several lives and left many injured. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

“The news of the deaths of several people and injuries to many others in the explosion that occurred in Delhi is extremely heartbreaking,” said Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. “May God grant peace to the departed souls. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the swift recovery of those injured.”

“Deeply concerned to hear about the car blast near Red Fort in Delhi. Praying for calm and safety for all in the area,” said Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora.

Congress leader Pawan Khera wrote, “The news of a car explosion near Red Fort Metro Station is deeply distressing. Early reports indicate that several lives have been lost. In this hour of grief, we stand with the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. The government must ensure a thorough and speedy investigation into the incident.”

Terror Attack Suspected

A car exploded near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, in what officials now suspect was a terror-related incident. A call about the blast was received around 6:55 pm, following which seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control in a short time.

Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital stated that 24 people were brought in severe condition, of which eight were declared dead. The remaining 16 people are undergoing treatment. The exact cause of the explosion, which triggered panic in the area, is yet to be determined.

The incident occurred just hours after police uncovered an interstate terror module allegedly linked to banned organisations and seized more than 2,900 kilograms of suspected ammonium nitrate. This included 360 kg recovered earlier and an additional 2,500 kg of the explosive substance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of the situation and spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah, according to government sources. Security authorities are assessing the impact of the attack and probing a terror link.
