SL vs IND 1st Test Highlights
Day 01
- Choosing to bat first, KL Rahul smashed 75 runs while Devdutt Padikkal scored 131 runs as India scored 288 runs on the first day of the test. Only 73 overs were played as rain interrupted the game.
- KL Rahul was forced to retire hurt due to severe cramps on day 01. Despite Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill losing their wickets, India stood strong with a decent score at stumps.
Day 02
- Resuming the game on day 02, Padikkal went on to score 167 runs, setting up the side to cross the 350-run mark.
- Dhruv Jurel smashed a fifty while others made a decent contribution. By the end of day 02, India went on to score 460 runs for 9 wickets.
- Keshara Nuwantha and Jayath Prabasuriya bagged three wickets each on day 02, while Asitha Fernando bagged one wicket.
Day 03
- Resuming the game on day 03, India got bowled out for 462 runs. Starting their innings, Sri Lanka lost the first five wickets for 99 runs before lunch.
- However, a partnership between Sonal Dinusha and Nick Dickwella has stabilised the innings, where the former smashed 100 while the latter scored 80 runs.
- However, their partnership did not last long as the side lost all 10 wickets for 284 runs.
- Ravindra Jadeja and Manav Suthar bagged three and four wickets respectively. However, India did not start their innings as rain interrupted the game.
Day 04
- Starting their innings, India lost their wickets rapidly as they lost all 10 wickets for 193 runs. Rishabh Pant scored 66 runs while Padikkal added 44 runs.
- Asitha Fernando bagged four wickets, and Prabath Jayasuriya bagged three wickets. Lahiru Kumar bagged two wickets in the 5 overs he delivered.
- India set a target of 372 runs for Sri Lanka in the third session. Starting their second innings, Sri Lanka scored 84 runs for four by the end of day 04.
Day 05
- Resuming their innings, Sri Lanka showed some resistance with knocks from Dhananjaya de Silva (59) and Sonal Dinusha (84) before their collapse.
- However, the lower-order collapse, with magic from Manav Suthar as Sri Lanka get bowled out for 206 runs as India secured a 165-run victory.
- Manav Suthar bagged six wickets while Prasidh Krishna bagged two wickets in their respective spells.

Player of the Match
Devdutt Padikkal | India Yeah, it’s been one of those things in my career. I started in Dharamshala (Test debut), then a Test in Perth, and now Galle. But I couldn’t have asked for anything better. The game was amazing. I think we played some really good cricket and really happy with the win.
