BRICS member countries on Tuesday adopted a joint statement at the conclusion of the two-day meeting of heads of national statistical offices (NSOs) in Lucknow, reaffirming their commitment to strengthen cooperation on data, innovation and modern statistical systems. New Delhi PM to attend 2-day G7 summit in France Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to come face-to-face with US President Donald Trump at the G7 Summit in France next week though a bilateral meeting between the two leaders is yet to be firmed up, people familiar with the matter said on Tuesday. Modi is set to criss-cross between France and Slovakia during a nearly week-long visit beginning on June 13 to participate in the outreach sessions of the G7 Summit and several other events and to hold bilateral meetings, according to the schedule announced by the external affairs ministry on Tuesday. The order specifies that the stay should include Friday and Saturday nights, during which the visitors should tour up to three nearby destinations. The government has said the duration of such travel would be “treated as time spent on duty”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Israel on Wednesday to a red-carpet welcome with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu and wife Sara receiving the Indian leader at the Ben Gurion airport.
