4 min readNew DelhiUpdated: May 19, 2026 10:18 PM IST “Mere samajh main nahin aa raha itni jaldi yeh sab kaise ho gaya (I cannot believe how this could happen so quickly).” Moments after speaking to his son, Prince Yadav, on Tuesday afternoon, Ram Niwas Yadav was yet to process the phone call. This IPL season, the father and son had established a routine for all match days — before boarding the team bus, Prince would call home. On Tuesday, the phone call brought a pleasant surprise. Prince told his father that he had been picked for the India ODI squad for the series against Afghanistan next month. A retired ASI of the Railway Protection Special Force, Ram Niwas, who had doubted his son’s cricketing ambitions earlier, has been proved wrong. When Prince was in his early 20s, while others his age were cracking government recruitment exams or getting into the police or armed forces, the youth from Dariyapur Khurd, a sleepy outpost in Southwest Delhi, was trying to figure out how to switch from …

Throwdown specialist and childhood friends who helped India star return after 2-year break

Throwdown specialist and childhood friends who helped India star return after 2-year break

The confidence in Uttam Mohanty’s voice is unmistakable. As Jharkhand’s throwdown specialist, he doesn’t just observe Ishan Kishan’s shots—he knows them by sound alone. During the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final in Pune, when Kishan launched one high into the air, his teammates in the dugout tensed. “Catch na ho jaye,” they muttered nervously. But Mohanty knew better. “Yeh six hai,” he declared. The ball sailed over the boundary. His teammates stared in disbelief. How could he be so certain?“The sound from the bat rings in my ears,” Mohanty explains. “Itna practice kiye hai sath mein. The timing was so sweet—I knew it would go for six.” This is the world behind the spotlight, where invisible hands shape visible success. Three hours in nets For the past two seasons, Mohanty has been the constant presence in the adjacent nets whenever Kishan walks in. Every session comes with specific plans. The longest throwdown sessions stretch to three hours. Before every game, forty-five minutes minimum. In recent years, Kishan identified a gap in his game—his flat strokes …

England Batter Harry Brook Slammed Brutally Over 2-Year IPL Ban: “Need To Respect…”

File photo of Harry Brook© BCCI Former Australia captain Michael Clarke supported the BCCI after they decided to ban Harry Brook from the Indian Premier League (IPL) for 2 years. The decision was taken after the England batter pulled out of the competition despite Delhi Capitals buying him for Rs 6.25 crore in the mega auction. According to the BCCI rules, if any player is bought in the auction and then decides to withdraw, he will be banned for two years. Clarke said that he completely understands BCCI’s stance in the matter and said that this will be a precedent for the future. He added that players cannot withdraw just because they did not get their desired price in the auction and withdrawals should be restricted to emergency situations. “What did Harry Brook get bought for? Imagine he’s on a full contract with the ECB and he’s been banned now. Because this is what happens as well. A lot of players go into the auction, they don’t get picked up for the amount …

“BCCI Trying To…”: Harry Brook’s England Teammate Drops Blunt Verdict On 2-Year IPL Ban

England star Harry Brook pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign for the second year in a row, as he made himself unavailable ahead of the start of the 2025 season at the last minute. While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) allows players to take such decisions due to injury or family-related issues, Brook’s pull-out wasn’t down to any of those factors. Hence, the England star is set to be banned from participating in the IPL for the next two seasons. As the board’s tough stance became a topic of debate, Brook’s England mates Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali shared their honest opinions on the matter. Moeen Ali, who has played for multiple IPL franchises over the years, refused to label BCCI’s stance on the matter ‘harsh’, saying if a player pulls out this way, it messes his whole team up. “It’s not harsh. I kind of agree with it, in a way, because a lot of people do that,” Moeen said in the ‘Beard Before Wicket’ …
