England batter Harry Brook has pulled out of the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year, for the second successive season and stands at risk of facing a two-year ban from future editions of the cash-rich league. As per ESPNCricinfo, Brook’s move to pull out from the league was conveyed by the officials of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) last week and then revealed to his franchise Delhi Capitals (DC), who got him in the last year’s auction for Rs 6.25 crores. There is nothing official that has emerged on the matter from the IPL itself and Brook has not given a reason for his withdrawal so far. United Nations: Pakistan today replaced Japan for a seat at the world’s topmost diplomatic body – the UN Security Council. Islamabad will occupy one of the two seats from the Asia-Pacific region (South Korea being the other) for two years starting today. Pakistan will also preside over the council in July when it will be the Chair. This will allow Islamabad to set the United Nations Security Council agenda. In addition to this, Islamabad finds itself holding another crucial post after it secured a seat on the Islamic State (ISIS) and Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee, which is responsible for designating individuals and groups as terrorists and imposing sanctions. A fine of Rs 11,000 was also imposed on Naresh Yadav (File) Chandigarh: A court in Punjab’s Malerkotla district on Saturday awarded a two-year sentence to AAP MLA from Delhi’s Mehrauli Naresh Yadav in a 2016 case of desecration of the Quran. The court of additional district and sessions judge Parminder Singh Grewal convicted Naresh Yadav in the case on Friday and pronounced the verdict on Saturday. A fine of Rs 11,000 was also imposed on Naresh Yadav who appeared before the court when the sentence was pronounced. The court upheld the two-year sentence of two others — “Vijay Kumar and Gaurav Kumar — and acquittal of another accused Nand Kishore by a lower court. Naresh Yadav has been convicted under Sections 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. The NS-25 mission will lift off from Launch Site One in West Texas, with the launch window for the flight starting at 0830 CT (1330 GMT), the company said on Tuesday. The New Shepard rocket, which flies cargo and humans on short trips to the edge of space, has been grounded since a September 2022 uncrewed mission failed roughly a minute after liftoff from Texas, forcing the rocket’s capsule full of NASA experiments to safely eject mid-flight. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration closed its review of Blue Origin’s New Shepard investigation last year, agreeing with the company’s findings.
