New Delhi: A review of the medical infrastructure in Delhi indicates under-utilisation of funds provided by the centre during the COVID crisis, a severe shortage of staff, and long waiting times for major surgeries, the Comptroller and Auditor-General said in a report tabled in the Assembly Friday. The seven-page CAG report – one of over a dozen the ruling BJP has vowed to present in the House, as proof of corruption by predecessors AAP – also pointed out the “dire condition” of ‘mohalla‘, or neighbourhood, clinics, which were a flagship measure of the earlier government. New Delhi: Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena today sanctioned an investigation into AAP’s allegation that the BJP attempted to poach its candidates ahead of the Delhi Assembly election results, scheduled for February 8. The BJP had argued that AAP’s claims were defamatory and aimed at tarnishing its image ahead of the election results. The Lt Governor said that the matter merited an investigation and directed authorities to examine the allegations. New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday refused to direct a sitting of the state assembly for tabling several CAG reports on governance. Justice Sachin Datta, however, said there was an “inordinate delay” on part of the Delhi government in the matter. The court underlined the tabling of the audit reports was mandatory under the Constitution. “The court is not inclined to accept the prayer of the petitioner to summon a special sitting of the assembly,” it held. Opposition leader Vijender Gupta and BJP MLAs — Mohan Singh Bisht, Om Prakash Sharma, Ajay Kumar Mahawar, Abhay Verma, Anil Kumar Bajpai, and Jitendra Mahajan — filed the petition last year and sought a direction to the speaker to call a sitting of the assembly for tabling the CAG reports. The petitioners filed the plea through advocates Neeraj and Satya Ranjan Swain. New Delhi: The BJP today escalated its attack on AAP following findings from a leaked Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report regarding the city’s controversial excise policy. Questioning the authenticity of the report, AAP leader Sanjay Singh asked whether the alleged findings were made at the BJP office.  The report, which allegedly outlines major lapses and violations under the leadership of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, has triggered a fresh row ahead of the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections.  The CAG report has not been officially released.  The purported CAG report, parts of which have reached the public domain, alleges that the Delhi government’s Excise Policy caused a loss of over Rs 2,026 crore to the state including a loss of Rs 890 crore due to the failure to re-tender surrendered retail liquor licenses.
