Stone thrown at Shatabdi Express carrying RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat near Firozabad



A stone-pelting incident was reported on the Swarna Shatabdi Express near Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh, damaging a window pane of an AC First Class coach in which Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat was travelling, reported the ANI.

Officials said that no passengers were injured and the train completed its journey safely.

According to police, the incident took place on Thursday evening while the train was travelling from Kanpur to New Delhi.

A stone struck the AC First Class coach, shattering one of its window panes. Mohan Bhagwat was onboard the train at the time.

The officials said that the matter is being treated seriously and an investigation was launched immediately after the incident.

Police begin investigation

Additional Director General (Agra Zone) S.K. Bhagwat said police teams were working to identify the suspect responsible for throwing the stone, according to ANI.

He confirmed that although the coach window was damaged, no injuries were reported among passengers.

Police have begun examining evidence and gathering information from the area where the incident occurred.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Aditya Langh said the incident took place near the boundary of the South and Rasulpur police station jurisdictions.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and conducting enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, the news agency reported.

Police have also detained one individual for questioning as part of the investigation.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident, including the man who threw the stone, will be clear after scanning CCTV camera footage from the area, police said, reported the PTI.

Strict action to be taken: Cops

Officials said a formal complaint is being obtained and a criminal case will be registered.

Police have assured that strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible for the incident.

The officials added that further details would be shared after the completion of questioning and analysis of the available evidence.

Despite the damage to the coach window, the Swarna Shatabdi Express continued its journey and reached its destination without further incident, as per the ANI.

Railway and police officials are continuing their investigation to determine whether the act was intentional and if others were involved.
