ISRO`s 101st mission from here, an earth observation satellite onboard the agency`s trusted PSLV rocket, could not be accomplished on Sunday following a pressure issue in the third stage of the launch vehicle, the space agency said.Although the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) made a textbook lift-off at the prefixed time of 5.59 am, the mission objectives, however could not be achieved. “Today we targeted the 101st launch from Sriharikota, the PSLV-C61 EOS-09 mission. The PSLV is a four-stage vehicle and up to the second stage, the performance was normal. The third stage motor started perfectly but during the functioning of the third stage we are seeing an observation and the mission could not be accomplished,” Narayanan said. Sriharikota: ISRO on Sunday could not accomplish the launch of an Earth observation satellite onboard a PSLV-C61 rocket after it encountered some anomaly in its third stage, the space agency’s Chairman V Narayanan said. ISRO’s trusted Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) is a 4-stage rocket and the first two stages were normal, he said. “Today we targeted the 101st launch from Sriharikota, the PSLVC61 EOS-09 mission. The PSLV is a four-stage vehicle and up to the second stage, the performance was normal. The third stage motor started perfectly but during the functioning of the third stage we are seeing an observation and the mission could not be accomplished,” Mr Narayanan said. “After analysis we shall come back,” he said in his brief address post the lift-off. As per ISRO reports, the mission was not successful as there was a technical glitch in the performance of the third stage, due to which the mission could not succeed. On the launch of PSLV-C61, ISRO chief Dr V Narayanan said, “EOS-09 mission could not be accomplished, and we will come back after analysis.” During the functioning of the third stage, we are seeing an observation, and the mission could not be accomplished.
