File. | Photo Credit: AFP India has received the fourth squadron of the Russia-made S-400 air defence system, strengthening the country’s long-range air defence network. The system arrived from Russia as scheduled in May, and is expected to be deployed in an operational area shortly, sources in the defence sector said. The delivery is part of a $5.43 billion agreement signed between India and Russia in 2018 for the acquisition of five S-400 regimental systems. Three S-400 squadrons have already been inducted into service; the fourth has now arrived, following delays linked to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The remaining squadron under the original contract is expected to be delivered in 2027, officials said. Deliveries are now back on schedule. New Delhi, The Delhi government is planning a major overhaul of its CCTV surveillance network, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence -based analytics to enhance both public safety and civic management, officials said on Thursday. Delhi PWD plans AI-enabled cameras to track crime, potholes and garbage dumping in Delhi In the past few years, the Public Works Department has installed around 2.8 lakh CCTV cameras in two phases. However, over the years, several of those cameras have outlived their capacity and will be replaced, they said. “To strengthen its CCTV network, PWD plans to conduct a detailed assessment, which will include identifying existing deficiencies, covering gaps, storage limitations, network bottlenecks, and operational issues. We plan to hire a company for which a tender has been floated,” a senior government official said. The call centre will be available at +914712525100. Minister for Local Self Governments M.B. Rajesh will launch the call centre at Mascot Hotel here at 2.30 p.m. Through the call centre, information about the services available to the public from the department will be provided, in addition to resolution of various doubts regarding panchayat and municipality building regulations, panchayat license rules, and civil registration rules like birth, death, marriage. The call centre system currently provided as part of K-Smart will be becoming completely virtual and AI-based through this project. The AI-based virtual assistant is being introduced under the name ‘Smarty’. Microsoft is planning to invest about $80 billion (roughly Rs. 6,86,200 crore) in fiscal 2025 on developing data centers to train artificial intelligence (AI) models and deploy AI and cloud-based applications, the company said in a blog post on Friday. Investment in AI has surged since OpenAI launched ChatGPT in 2022, as companies across sectors seek to integrate artificial intelligence into their products and services. AI requires enormous computing power, pushing demand for specialized data centers that enable tech companies to link thousands of chips together in clusters. Microsoft has been investing billions to enhance its AI infrastructure and broaden its data-center network. Analysts expect Microsoft’s fiscal 2025 capital expenditure including capital leases to be $84.24 billion (roughly Rs. 7,20,475 crore), according to Visible Alpha. The government expects footfall of approximately 450 million devotees at the religious carnival, which is recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in which a largest peaceful congregation of pilgrims take a dip in a sacred river. The Mahakumbh will continue for 45 days till February 26, 2025. The Mahakumbh is being organised at Prayagraj after 12 years. On the arrangements made for the event, U.P.
