Anatomy of a collapse: How Punjab Kings went from favourites to also-rans | Cricket News

5 min readUpdated: May 24, 2026 09:02 PM IST Six games of feast; six games of famine. A last-ditch resurrection bid; prayers mumbled, chewed nails, split hairs and an agonising wait; few teams have suffered emotional extremities as Punjab Kings this season. From the golden favourites to shocking losers, they are both a cautionary tale as well as an example of the league’s vicissitudes. Much of their fate was self-inflicted. Dropped catches would haunt them; they spilled 16 off 56 opportunities, which is a dramatic rate in a format with threadbare margins. Add missed stumpings, and Punjab would curse their leaden hands and betraying eyes. Some of them proved costly (like those of Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen in Hyderabad), but even the non-expensive ones generated a negative fatalistic vibe, killed momentum and sowed doubts in fielders. Coach Ricky Ponting, one of the finest all-round fielders of all time, likened it to a virus that spread throughout their camp. Skipper Shreyas Iyer termed it the “biggest setback of the season.” The culprit was not just …

NEET UG cancellation Anatomy of a leak: A paid WhatsApp group, a whistleblower under cloud, and a ‘guess paper’ that spread like wildfire | Education News

The unravelling of a suspected leak in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG), 2026, in Rajasthan began with an automated fine print on a WhatsApp message: “Forwarded many times.” When investigators following the trail of a “guess paper” stumbled upon this WhatsApp message, they realised that what they hoped was an isolated leak was much larger in scale. Officials of the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG), which had been investigating the case before the CBI took charge on Tuesday, said that they found a WhatsApp group named ‘Private Mafia’, where the said paper was being circulated and had members who had paid various amounts, beginning from around Rs 5,000, to join the group. However, despite strict “instructions” from the group administrators not to share the paper, it was circulated far and wide. Officials said that preliminary investigation had indicated that the paper may have leaked from Nashik, Maharashtra. Nashik police officials said they have picked up a medical student, identified as Shubham Khairnar (30), who allegedly managed to obtain the question paper days before the exam …

I watched Grey’s Anatomy for 16 years; The Pitt made me realise we were never really in a hospital | Opinion-entertainment News

For the longest time, I believed Grey’s Anatomy had exhausted the medical drama for me. I was not a casual viewer. I stayed with Grey’s for 16 years, right up to season 17. I had lived through the era of McDreamy and McSteamy, watched Cristina Yang love Preston Burke and then fall into that deeply complicated orbit with Owen Hunt, kept count of how many marriages, heartbreaks, deaths this hospital could possibly contain, and stayed invested in characters like Miranda Bailey and Richard Webber. Somewhere along the way, the series became too cluttered, too crowded with new faces and stretched storylines. It simply did not end. I finally lost the trail around season 17, and after that, I lost my appetite for another medical drama altogether. So when The Pitt arrived, I gave it a miss. I was not looking for another hospital, another ER corridor, another round of medical emergencies. But word of mouth around The Pitt became impossible to ignore. It was not just that people liked it. It was that they were …
