His unit, however, stands on only a kanal (0.125 acres) of land, where he commercially cultivates around eight varieties of medicinal mushrooms. Virender Bajwan has claimed to earn an annual profit of nearly Rs 20 lakh from just one kanal of land by cultivating mushrooms, especially Ganoderma (Reishi mushroom), and working with a network of farmers through his agri-startup. His unit houses a building with 12 indoor cultivation halls and a mushroom laboratory capable of producing over 30,000 fully mycelium-run bags every year. These bags can produce up to 1,000 kg of dried medicinal mushrooms annually, he said. “The market price of dried medicinal mushrooms ranges from Rs 1,600 to Rs 4,000 per kg, depending on quality,” Bajwan said. Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi will arrive in New Delhi on Wednesday for a three-day official visit from July 1 to 3 to participate in the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit. The Zool festival of Aishmuqam shrine of Baba Zain-ud-Din Wali is a procession of faith and light. Also known as the illumination or torch festival, the Zool is a centuries-old tradition held at the shrine in Anantnag district of southern Kashmir. At this shrine, located on a hillock overlooking the road to Pahalgam, the famous tourist destination in Kashmir, the annual fire procession symbolises the victory of light over darkness while commemorating the 15th-century Sufi saint Baba Zain-ud-Din Wali, a primary disciple of the renowned mystic Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali, also known as Nund Rishi. This year, the festival was celebrated on April 2. According to local legend, the saint meditated in a cave at Aishmuqam that was once infested with snakes or, in some versions, terrorised by a demon. His spiritual power eventually cleared the cave, and local people celebrated this “victory of good over evil” by lighting torches. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Sunday announced a revision in the FASTag annual pass fee for the financial year 2026–27.   The fee has been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,075 and the revised rate will come into effect from April 1, 2026. “NHAI has announced the revision of the applicable fee for the FASTag Annual Pass from the current Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,075 for the Financial Year 2026–27,” the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways said. According to NHAI, the revision has been made in line with the provisions of the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008. The FASTag Annual Pass has been gaining popularity among private vehicle owners, with more than 56 lakh users currently availing the facility. The revised annual pass will continue to be available for eligible non-commercial vehicles that have a valid FASTag. The environment and climate change department has been allocated Rs 159.82 crore for the upcoming fiscal year, which accounts for only 0.33 percent of the BMC’s capex fund of Rs. 48,164 crore. A provision of Rs 76.16 crore was allocated in the revised estimates for FY 2025-26 for the climate department. A key project which will draw the department’s focus in the coming year is implementing Project MANAS (Mumbai Air Network for Advanced Sciences) where the civic body is set to install a network of 75 new low cost sensors across Mumbai in collaboration with IIT Kanpur. While the city is currently home to 28 continuous ambient air quality monitoring stations (CAAQMS) that record the city’s AQI, the proposed MANAS portal will be an independent platform which will provide hyperlocal monitoring of 75 locations.
