Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla assumes charge as Eastern Naval Command chief

Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla on Friday assumed charge as the new Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Indian Navy`s Eastern Naval Command here, as reported by news agency PTI.  Sanjay Bhalla succeeded Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, who superannuated earlier on Thursday. While addressing the investiture of the new flag officer of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Naval Command, the release stated, “Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla assumed charge as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, at an impressive ceremonial parade held at Visakhapatnam on October 31, upon the superannuation of Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar,” as cited by news agency PTI.  Soon after taking charge, Naval Chief Bhalla inspected the ceremonial guard and reviewed the platoons of naval and DSC personnel representing various ships and establishments of the command. Film producer V Venkata Ramana Reddy, popularly known as Dil Raju, assumed charge as chairman of Telangana Film Development Corporation in Hyderabad on Wednesday ( December 18,2024).  Mr. Reddy said he would strive to ensure that more Indian film industry shootings happen in Telangana. Priority will be given to promoting films from Telangana. Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Girish Chandra Murmu, has assumed chairmanship of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI), an international body having 48 SAIs as its members. Murmu assumed charge of the 16th Assembly of the ASOSAI, which is going on in the National Capital. The ASOSAI, is an “important” regional group under the umbrella of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), and it was founded in New Delhi in 1979, with only 11 members. Addressing a press conference after assuming the chairmanship on Wednesday, Murmu said that the ASOSAI’s focus will be on technology-driven audits, and the audit of local bodies, during India’s chair from 2024-2027. “The 16th ASOSAI Assembly symbolizes a renewed commitment to cooperation and capacity-building among SAIs across Asia. Prof. Devendra Jalihal today assumed the position of Director at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati). He is succeeding Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, who held the additional charge of IIT Guwahati since November 2023. Before this appointment, Prof. Jalihal served as a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Madras. Prof. Devendra Jalihal earned his BTech (Hons) from IIT Kharagpur in 1983 and completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Duke University, Durham, USA, in 1992.
