India will return with ten medals from the 14 boxing events they competing in at 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. A total of ten boxers, including Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain have made their way into the semi-finals of the quadrennial event. A semi-final appearance in boxing assures the pugilists of at least a bronze medal. While Borgohain received a direct entry to the semi-finals in women’s 75kg, getting a first round bye, even before the opening ceremony, the rest nine boxers had to fight their way through. The most challenging campaign was reserved for Jadumani Singh and Sachin Siwach both of whom started their campaign in the Round of 32 of men’s 55kg and men’s 60kg weight classes respectively. The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) released the boxing draws for all 14 weight categories for the 2026 Glasgow Games on Wednesday. The boxing competition will kick off on 24th July with the round of 32 bouts in a few categories, and the competition will run for seven days before the finals on 1st August. India has sent a full 14-member squad, including flag-bearer Lovlina Borgohain, who has already assured herself of a medal before the competition begins. Activist Sonam Wangchuk on Wednesday claimed that the Centre had assured him it would “positively consider” the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as part of efforts to ensure accountability over the alleged NEET paper leak. The Indian men’s badminton team stormed into the semi-finals of the 2026 Thomas Cup in Horsens, Denmark on Friday, assuring themselves of a medal in the competition. This is only the second time in history of the men’s world team championships that India have made it to the final four. The last time they did so, they clinched a historic title win four years back in 2022. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has warned developers of strict legal action if they fail to honour commitments to provide water supply to housing societies after handing over possession, officials said. The warning was issued during a review meeting held on Friday, in line with a public interest litigation heard by the Bombay High Court on April 10, 2023, regarding urban water supply issues. (HT) Municipal commissioner Dr Vijay Suryavanshi said developers who submitted written undertakings assuring water supply must fulfil them. “If developers neglect this responsibility or unfairly shift the financial burden of water supply onto housing societies, stringent action will be taken,” he said.
