India assured of 10 medals in Boxing


India will return with ten medals from the 14 boxing events they competing in at 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

A total of ten boxers, including Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain have made their way into the semi-finals of the quadrennial event.

A semi-final appearance in boxing assures the pugilists of at least a bronze medal.

While Borgohain received a direct entry to the semi-finals in women’s 75kg, getting a first round bye, even before the opening ceremony, the rest nine boxers had to fight their way through.

The most challenging campaign was reserved for Jadumani Singh and Sachin Siwach both of whom started their campaign in the Round of 32 of men’s 55kg and men’s 60kg weight classes respectively.

Both Jadumani and Sachin won three consecutive bouts to reach the semi-finals and assures themselves of a medal.

Apart from then, Ankush Panghal in 80kg and Narender Berwal in +90kg are the other male boxers to be assured of a medal from India.

Among the women, leading the charge is Sakshi Chaudhary, who had pipped the likes of Nitu Ghanghas and Nikhat Zareen to make the team in 51kg.

Preeti Pawar in 54kg, Priya Ghanghas in 60kg, and Arundhati Choudhary in 70kg will also win a medal in Glasgow for India along with Jaismine Lamboria in the 57kg weight class.

The four boxers, who’ll unfortunately return empty handed are Parveen Hooda, Sumit Kundu, Kapil Pokhariya, and Aditya Pratap Yadav.
