Image Source : X Elaborate security arrangements for India-Bangladesh second Test match An FIR was filed against 20 members of the Akhilesh Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha for allegedly organising a ‘havan’ by obstructing the road outside the International Green Park stadium, Kanpur ahead of the India-Bangladesh second Test match scheduled from September 27. The havan was organised to protest against atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh. Elaborate security arrangements were made for the India-Bangladesh Test match, following the protest by the Hindu organisation.  ACP Harish Chander said a “fool-proof” security plan has been chalked out for India and Bangladesh cricket teams. Traffic diversions have also been imposed ahead of the match, he added. Kanpur’s Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Harish Chander said they have sought adequate police force, including senior rank officials, to be deployed for the match.  “We are reviewing the security arrangements to leave no stone unturned and (are) confident of getting an adequate police force to meet the requirements,” the official said. According to the latest government report under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the majority of atrocities against Scheduled Tribes (STs) were also concentrated in 13 states, which reported 98.91% of all cases in 2022. Of the 51,656 cases registered under the law for Scheduled Castes (SCs) in 2022, Uttar Pradesh accounted for 23.78% of the total cases with 12,287, followed by Rajasthan at 8,651 (16.75%) and Madhya Pradesh at 7,732 (14.97%). The police have registered a fresh case against arrested BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad under the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act after the owner of a land in Ambernath alleged that she and her relatives were abused and insulted with casteist slurs by Ganpat over the land. The land in question is the same property over which a heated argument erupted between Ganpat Gaikwad and Shinde Sena leader Mahesh Gaikwad. During the argument, Ganpat fired multiple rounds at Mahesh and one of his aides inside the Hill Line police station in Ulhasnagar in Thane on Friday night. Ganpat and two others have been arrested in the case, while three others are wanted by the police. Thane police Crime Branch, which is now investigating the case, are trying to trace Ganpat’s son Vaibhav and two others who were allegedly at the police station when the incident occurred. “We are trying to locate them, questioning people associated with them as well as Ganpat,” said an officer from the Crime Branch. With Lok Sabha election on the horizon, a mining-related deforestation exercise in Hasdeo forests last month has reignited protests and triggered a debate between the BJP, which recently assumed power, and the Congress over who should be held responsible.
