Aakash Chopra on Tilak Varma’s replacement for IND vs NZ T20I series: ‘Who can it be? Shreyas Iyer. ‘Sarpanch’ sahab should be picked automatically’ | Cricket News

Indian cricketer Tilak Varma has suffered abdomen injury ahead of the T20I series against New Zealand. Earlier this publication reported that Tilak was in Rajkot playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy when he felt a pain in the abdomen after breakfast on Wednesday morning, and it is unlikely that Shubman Gill, India’s Test and ODI captain, would be considered. Former Indian cricketer suggested that with Tilak missing the first three T20Is, it opens the door to bringing in Shreyas Iyer in the side. “Who can it be? Shreyas Iyer. ‘Sarpanch’ sahab should be picked automatically. He is already playing well and scored in the Vijay Hazare Trophy too. Even when Iyer was not picked in the Asia Cup, it felt slightly unfair, but it was understandable. But there is an opportunity for a middle-order role here. He is also an experienced player and set the IPL on fire. He fits the bill, and Shreyas Iyer gets my vote,” Chopra said on his Twitter account. gt; Tilak Verma is injured and could even miss out on the …

Rao The Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) has introduced a new system that automatically converts financial cybercrime complaints with a fraud value above ₹10 lakh, and registered on the 1930 helpline or cybercrime.gov.in portal, into First Information Reports (FIRs). The e-Zero FIR initiative has been launched on a pilot basis first in Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Monday (May 19, 2025). The new system that will drive investigations to swiftly cracking down on cybercriminals will soon be extended to the entire nation, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said. Mr. Shah directed the implementation of the initiative at a recent review meeting of the I4C, keeping in view the difficulties faced by victims of financial cybercrimes in recovering the money lost. The newly introduced process involves the integration of I4C’s National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) system, the Delhi Police’s e-FIR system, and the National Crime Record Bureau’s Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems. “Now, …

Louisiana is using an algorithm to automatically deny parole applicants

Louisiana is using an algorithm to automatically deny parole applicants

A new report from ProPublica published Thursday showed how the Louisiana government is using TIGER (Targeted Interventions to Greater Enhance Re-entry), a computer program developed by Louisiana State University to prevent recidivism, to approve or deny parole applications based on a score calculating their risk of returning to prison. Though the algorithm was initially designed to be used as a tool to help rehabilitate inmates by taking their background into account, a TIGER score – which uses data from an inmate’s time before prison, such as work history, criminal convictions, and age at first arrest – is now the sole measure of one’s eligibility. In interviews, several prisoners revealed that their scheduled parole hearings had been abruptly canceled after their TIGER score determined that they were at “moderate risk” of returning to prison. There is no factor in a TIGER score that takes into account an inmate’s behavior in prison or attempts at rehab – a score that criminal justice activists argue penalizes one’s racial and demographic background. (According to current state Department of Corrections …

“Don’t Have To Send Message, It Automatically Gets Delivered”: Shreyas Iyer Tears Into Critics

“Don’t Have To Send Message, It Automatically Gets Delivered”: Shreyas Iyer Tears Into Critics

Labelled ‘silent hero’ of India’s ICC Champions Trophy triumph, Shreyas Iyer was crucial to India’s success in Dubai. Despite there being a debate over his place in the team, with certain actions by the management suggesting that he wasn’t a certainty at the No. 4 spot heading into the Champions Trophy, Iyer let his bat do the talking and contributed heavily towards the team’s success. It’s strange to see that a player of Iyer’s caliber isn’t a part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) central contract. But, he doesn’t feel it’s important for him to personally send a message. Iyer finished the Champions Trophy campaign as India’s highest run-scorer, with 243 runs to his name, only behind Rachin Ravindra who scored 263. Iyer might have failed to get a hundred in the tournament but he was quite satisfied with his performance. “Very, very satisfying. Maybe I could have got a century, but no regrets. In fact, it was sweeter because I got the team to a decent total, and …

“Physical Relations” Can’t Automatically Mean Sexual Assault: High Court

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has acquitted a man in a POCSO case, saying the use of the phrase “physical relations” by the minor survivor cannot automatically mean sexual assault. A bench of Justices Prathiba M Singh and Amit Sharma allowed the appeal by the accused, who was given imprisonment for the rest of his life, and observed that it was unclear how the trial court concluded that there was any sexual assault when the survivor had voluntarily gone with the accused. The court asserted that the leap from physical relations or “samband” to sexual assault and then to penetrative sexual assault must be established by evidence and cannot be deduced as an inference. “The mere fact that the survivor is below 18 years cannot lead to a conclusion that there was penetrative sexual assault. The survivor, in fact, used the phrase ‘physical relations’, but there is no clarity as to what she meant by using the said phrase,” the court said in the judgment passed on December 23. “Even the use of the …

DJI escapes US drone ban — but may get banned automatically unless Trump steps in

The US Senate has passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the annual defense spending bill, and it may have major consequences for the world’s largest drone company — though not necessarily the immediate ban that China’s DJI feared. While it did not contain the full “Countering CCP Drones Act” provisions that would have quickly blocked imports of DJI products into the United States, it instead kicks off a one-year countdown until its products (and those of rival dronemaker Autel Robotics) are automatically banned. If DJI cannot convince “an appropriate national security agency” to publicly declare that its products do not “pose an unacceptable risk to the national security of the United States,” the act instructs the FCC to add DJI’s gear to its “covered list” under the Secure and Trusted Communication Networks Act. Not only does that list keep that gear from running on US networks, it bars the FCC from authorizing their internal radios for use in the US, effectively blocking all imports. While none of that would keep US citizens from continuing …

Spotify now automatically creates an offline playlist when you lose internet

Spotify has introduced a new feature that will keep your music playing even when your device unexpectedly goes offline. The app will automatically generate an Offline Backup playlist filled with recently streamed and queued songs that have already been downloaded and cached, and it will “evolve” over time and customize the playlist based on your listening habits. The streaming app already allows you to download tracks and playlists that can be played offline, but that needs to be done manually while a data connection is available. Spotify’s Offline Backup is an alternative for those times when an internet connection disappears unexpectedly or when you intentionally turn it off, like when activating airplane mode during a flight. When a mobile device goes offline, the Spotify app will now automatically present the Offline Backup playlist.Screenshot: Spotify The Offline Backup playlist will appear automatically in the Spotify app’s home feed anytime a device goes offline, but it requires the app to already have offline listening enabled in its settings, and you need to have recently listened to more …

Google Play Store Reportedly Developing Feature to Automatically Open Apps After Installation

Google Play Store may be developing a new feature which enhances the app installation experience, according to a report. The feature, dubbed ‘auto-open’, is said to automatically open apps on the Android smartphone once they are installed from the Play Store, eliminating the need for manually searching for them. This reported feature builds upon a recent change introduced by the platform that enables up to three simultaneous app downloads or updates. Google Play Store’s Auto-Open Feature In a report, Android Authority, in collaboration with tipster Assemble Debug, revealed information about the purported feature, suggesting that it may be officially announced soon. The feature was first reported to be in-testing in an earlier release of the Google Play Store in June. This recent discovery reportedly took place following an APK teardown of the Google Play Store app version 42.5.15. It is not available to the general public yet. Auto-Open Option on the Google Play Store A video published by the media outlet shows a 5-second countdown timer appearing in the notification drawer before the app automatically …
