Congress’ Charanjit Channi questions surgical strikes, backtracks later

We demand that the government take steps and the entire country is awaiting to witness what action it takes against Pakistan.”  File | Photo Credit: Shiv Kumar Pushpakar Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday (May 2, 2025) questioned the veracity of the surgical strikes against Pakistan in the aftermath of the 2019 Pulwama terror attack but later, backtracked in the face of the BJP’s criticism and said that no proof was sought for it. AIADMK Backtracks On BJP Coalition? Alliance Only For Elections, Hints EPS

AIADMK Backtracks On BJP Coalition? Alliance Only For Elections, Hints EPS

Chennai: Last week the BJP and AIADMK unveiled an alliance for the 2026 Tamil Nadu election. This week the Dravidian party seemed to threw a spanner into its ally’s plans for the southern state, in the event the alliance manages to defeat the ruling DMK-Congress combine. Comments by AIADMK boss Edappadi K Palaniswami, or EPS, suggest the Tamil party will not accept a coalition government and that the alliance with the BJP is “only for the election”. The BJP has not yet responded to EPS’ declaration, but it is unlikely that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party will be impressed. The PM had earlier expressed his happiness – “stronger together…” he posted on X – over the AIADMK’s decision to join his party-led national alliance. EPS’ comments also contradict those made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, with whom he shared the stage last week while announcing the AIADMK-BJP alliance. Mr Shah had said the two parties will contest next year’s election “together” and that no “conditions” had been made by the Tamil party. “… have …

Canada Factchecks Own Media, Backtracks After India’s Stinker

The Justin Trudeau-led Canadian government on Friday denied a report linking top Indian leaders to criminal activities in Canada, saying it is “speculative and inaccurate”. In a statement days after a strong rebuttal from New Delhi, National security and intelligence advisor to Justin Trudeau, Nathalie G Drouin, said the Canadian government is “not aware” of any evidence of the claims made by a Canadian media house citing unnamed officials. “On October 14th, because of a significant and ongoing threat to public safety, the RCMP and officials took the extraordinary step of making public accusations of serious criminal activity in Canada perpetrated by agents of the Government of India. Twitter had announced that the company would “no longer allow free promotion of specific social media platforms.” “At both the Tweet level and the account level, we will remove any free promotion of prohibited third-party social …
