Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty barge into semis

India’s crack men’s doubles pairing of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty advanced to the semi-finals of the Malaysia Open 2025, which is a prestigious BWF World Tour Super 1000 event. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty took down Malaysia’s Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi in straight games — with the score line reading 26-24, 21-15 — in a dominant performance on court. Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi got massive support from the home fans. But it did not faze Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. “This is a good start to the year, we couldn’t have started on a better note. We want to still go as deep in the tournament as possible,” Chirag Shetty said after their win. “As athletes, these are the kind of stadiums you want to play in. You want to play in packed arenas in the crucial parts of a tournament. We really could not have asked for a better crowd. Obviously the crowd was supporting the local pair. But as a professional badminton athlete, this is one of …

Why Virat Kohli’s barge on Sam Konstas was ugly and un-Kohli like

Why Virat Kohli’s barge on Sam Konstas was ugly and un-Kohli like

There has not been any shortage of drama in the latest edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But at no point has it shown signs of turning into a full-blown controversy. At Adelaide, there was Mohammed Siraj vs Travis Head. Despite the Australian crowd trying its best to make it a talking point, both the players moved on, bringing down the tension. Between the Brisbane and Melbourne Test, sections of Australian media went after Virar Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja for nonexistent issues. But with just 10 days of cricket left, on Boxing Day a new fire has been lit. It is no surprise that the one who stroked the fire happened to be Virat Kohli — a player who has had his fair share of run-ins with Australian players and the crowd. Back then, nobody complained. If anything, his aggressive, in-your-face attitude won him fans. Not this time though. Without any provocation, Kohi walked across the pitch and bumped shoulders with 19-year-old debutant Sam Konstas. Heated moments when Kohli is on the field aren’t new. But …

Ravi Shastri doesn’t hold back over Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas shoulder barge incident

Ravi Shastri doesn’t hold back over Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas shoulder barge incident

Former India coach Ravi Shastri was one of the harshest critics of the shoulder barge incident between Indian cricket team talisman Virat Kohli and Australian debutant Sam Konstas.  The incident happened in the first session of Day 1 of the ongoing Boxing Day Test. It was after the 10th over of the morning, when both players were returning to their positions after the over had ended.  Replays seemed to suggest that former India captain Virat Kohli cut across from his initial position on the leg side of play, while he had the ball in his hand, and walked beside the pitch where Konstas was returning back from the other end. The duo collided shoulder to shoulder before Sam Konstas and Virat Kohli exchanged words. Australia’s Usman Khawaja then walked in to defuse the tension and even put an arm around Kohli’s shoulders. Sam Konstas vs Virat Kohli: Aussie debutant and Indian star involved in shoulder barge, Ricky Ponting says Kohli instigated it | Cricket News

Debutant Sam Konstas had Indians rattled during a sensational debut on Boxing Day at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Thursday. After missing a couple of ramp shots early on, the 19-year-old opener took on Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj in an extraordinary display of attacking batting. Then came a moment of altercation with Virat Kohli that will be discussed quite a lot in the hours and days to come. At the end of the 10th over, Konstas was walking down the pitch to the middle. The former India captain picked up the ball from around where the forward short leg fielder would be. He then moved towards his right and started walking diagonally towards Konstas. And a few short steps later the shoulders collided between the two. Konstas turned back to have a few words with Kohli and then the Indian player too had some words to share as things got heated.
