New Delhi, The Delhi High Court on Monday sought the stand of the Competition Commission of India on a petition by the Basketball Federation of India against its order directing a probe against the Federation for allegedly abusing its “dominant position” and engaging in anti-competitive activities. HC seeks CCI stand on plea by Basketball Federation against probe Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav issued notice on the petition as well as the Federation’s plea seeking a stay on the order and listed it for hearing on March 10. Asserting that a “regulator cannot be regulated”, senior advocate Vaibhav Gaggar, who appeared for the petitioner, said the Federation was a national sports federation and the CCI acted outside its jurisdiction when it passed the order directing investigation by the Director General on November 25, 2025. The Indian men and women basketball teams are all geared up for the eighth edition of the 2025 FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup scheduled from March 26-30 in Singapore. Men’s team comprising Arvind Muthu, Pranav Prince, Sahaij Pratap Singh Sekhon and Princepal Singh will take on Republic of Korea in their opening qualifying match. The women’s team led by Sreekala Rani, Aneesha Cleetus, Gulabsha Ali and Priyanka Prabhakara will play Hong Kong on Wednesday. Both, Indian men and women’s team are placed in the qualification draw B. The men’s team have drawn alongside Republic of Korea, Macau, and Philippines, while the women’s team has Hong Kong (China), Chinese Taipei, and Guam in their draw. Indian men’s team one win away from main draw

India men’s 3×3 basketball team kickstarted their campaign with two comfortable wins over Macau and Maldives respectively while the women’s team took a dominating 21-1 victory over Northern Mariana Islands at the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup Qualifying round in Singapore on Wednesday. The men’s team started the day with a 21-10 win over the Maldives after Pranav Prince’s top-class performance who scored eight points and a clinical Sahaij Sekhon who clinched seven points. The Maldives started positively and scored four two-pointers to start with, but then Sekhon with his swift movement turned the tables. They followed up the same momentum in the second game and claimed their back-to-back victory ( 21-13) against Macau. This match was going very closely till the halfway point as both teams kept on scoring one-pointers but then Princepal Singh used his height and physique against shorter Macau players to win a few quick points.
