BFI announces INR 75K per month for the top 20 hoopsters in the country


The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) announced on Saturday that the top 20 category-A men and women hoopsters in the country will receive INR 75 K per month after their Steering Committee Meeting in New Delhi.

“As President of the Basketball Federation of India, I’m excited to introduce new initiatives to uplift our players and strengthen our sport. Starting this Diwali 2024, the top 20 Category ‘A’ Basketball Players both Men and Women will receive a monthly remuneration of ₹75,000.

This significant investment of ₹3.6 crore annually is a testament to our commitment to empowering our players and raising the bar for Indian basketball” said President Aadhav Arjuna

Current Category-A players:

Men: Aravind Annadurai, Vishesh Bhriguvanshi, Amritpal Singh, Amjyot Singh, Palpreet Singh, Muin Bek, M. Arvind Kumar, Sahaij Pratap Singh Sekhon, Principal Singh, Pranav Prince, Prashant Singh Rawat, P. Baladaneshwar, Harsh Dagar, Kushal Singh, Amarendra Nayak, Kanwar Gurbaz Singh, Vaisakh K Manoj, Piyush Meena, Pratyanshu Tomar, M. Lokeshwaran.

Women: Aneesha Cleetus, K. B. Harshitha, Pushpa Senthil Kumar, T. Darshini, Poonam Chaturvedi, M. Nishanthi, Nima Doma, Kavitha Jose, Sreekala Rani, Vaishnavi Yadav, Sanjana Ramesh, Kavya Singla, Manmeet Kaur, Anumaria, R. Sruthy, K. Sathya, Siya Deodhar, Rashi Kothani, Susan Florentina, Ishika Choudhary.

The Selection Committee, in consultation with India’s head coach appointed by BFI, will analyze and review player performance in forthcoming Nationals. Based on these evaluations, players may be promoted to a higher category or demoted to the B or C category.

BFI said in a press release that they, along with their league partner, are working towards structuring a league.

This League will commence soon and will help the Indian players excel and gain more recognition.
