‘Bizzare’: New Delhi on Wang Yi claim that Beijing mediated between India, Pakistan

New Delhi: Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi said on Tuesday “tensions between India and Pakistan” were among issues “mediated” by Beijing this year, a claim that went against New Delhi’s assertion that a conflict in May ended following talks between Indian and Pakistani military officials. China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivers the opening speech on stage for the annual symposium on the international situation and China’s foreign relations held by China Institute of International Studies at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, in Beijing, on Tuesday (AP) Wang made the claim while speaking at the “Symposium on the International Situation and China’s Foreign Relations” in Beijing. His claim, however, went against India’s assertion that the May 7-10 conflict with Pakistan was resolved through direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of the two countries. “This year, local wars and cross-border conflicts flared up more often than at any time since the end of World War II. Geopolitical turbulence continued to spread,” Wang said at the symposium Noting that Beijing had focused on building peace …

China fully respects Denmark’s sovereignty on Greenland, foreign minister says | News Today News

China fully respects Denmark’s sovereignty and territorial integrity on the Greenland issue, Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Danish counterpart on Monday, urging the European nation to reciprocate over China’s own sovereignty concerns. US President Donald Trump has in recent months insisted that Washington should take over the strategically located, semi-autonomous Danish territory. Beijing hopes Denmark will “continue to support China’s legitimate position on issues concerning China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Wang told Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen in Beijing on Monday, according to a ministry statement. Story continues below this ad The meeting took place after Beijing criticised Denmark for hosting former Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen last week, who met Danish lawmakers and gave a speech at a democracy summit in Copenhagen. China claims democratically-governed Taiwan as its own territory. Taiwan’s government rejects Beijing’s sovereignty claim. Ties between China and Denmark are challenged by the latter’s informal relations with Taiwan and hit a low point in 2009 when the Dalai Lama visited Copenhagen. But relations improved after Denmark accepted China’s offer of two …

Surgeon Loses Job After Doctor Wife Exposes Extramarital Affairs With Juniors

A Chinese surgeon was fired and expelled from the Communist Party after he was found having multiple extramarital affairs with several women, including a nurse and a junior doctor at his workplace.  The man, identified as Xiao Fei, 39, served in the chest surgery department at one of the country’s leading hospitals, China-Japan Friendship Hospital. His wife, Gu, also a doctor at the same facility, wrote a letter about her husband’s extramarital affairs, reported the South China Morning Post. In the letter, she mentioned that Mr Xiao, who shares a daughter with her, began having an affair in 2019 with a nurse named Ms Shi, who used to work in his department. Later, they started travelling together, and Mr Xiao even took Ms Shi, who was already married, to his parents in the Shaanxi province.  Ms Shi got pregnant with Mr Xiao twice. Her first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, while she opted for an abortion in the second one. Ms Gu said that when she confronted her husband about the affair, he knelt and …

In trade war with the US, China’s strong language hides its frailties

In trade war with the US, China’s strong language hides its frailties

“If war is what the US wants, be it a tariff war, a trade war or any other type of war, we’re ready to fight till the end”. So declared a Chinese Foreign Ministry tweet in March when the Donald Trump administration raised tariffs over China’s lack of cooperation in stemming the illegal flow of the opioid, fentanyl, into the US. The strong language coming out of Beijing coupled with the general perception of American policy being unstable or reversible, has allowed a narrative to quickly gain ground – including not least in India – that American President Donald Trump is the one most likely to blink first. Story continues below this ad However, while China certainly has the state capacity to not just weather the storm but to exploit it to advantage, its frailties are no less significant. Never waste a crisis The Trump tariffs are certainly an opportunity for Beijing to make a case for global leadership in the face of an unreliable and isolationist US. By describing Trump as “a businessman by …

Chinese humanoid robots race alongside humans in half-marathon in Beijing | Sport-others News

Humans raced against humanoid robots for the first time in a half-marathon in Beijing, China on Saturday. Even though humanoid robots have made appearances in marathons across China over the past year, this was the first time they competed alongside humans. Robots in various shapes and sizes, ranging from just under four feet (120 cm) to as tall as 1.8 metres (5.9 ft) took part in the race. As a precaution, a barrier that ran parallel to the human runners divided the race course for humans and machines. While people contested in the half-marathon under conventional rules, the robots had tailored guidelines which included battery change pit stops. The organizers labelled the competition as being similar to a race car competition, owing to the need for engineering and accompanied navigation teams. Long way to go While the fastest men’s participant completed the half-marathon in 1 hour and two minutes, the humanoid winner – Tiangong Ultra, from the Beijing Innovation Center of Human Robotics – finished the race in 2 hours and 40 minutes; a long …

Mark Zuckerberg Fooling Americans, Is “Hand In Glove” With China: Meta Whistleblower

A former Meta executive, Sarah Wynn-Williams, has come forward as a whistleblower, accusing the company of compromising US national security to establish a substantial business presence in China. According to Wynn-Williams, Meta executives made decisions that allowed the Chinese Communist Party to access user data, including that of Americans. This testimony was given during a congressional hearing led by Senator Josh Hawley, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism. “I saw Meta executives repeatedly undermine U.S. national security and betray American values,” Wynn-Williams said in her opening remarks per CBS News. Wynn-Williams alleges that Meta built custom censorship tools for the Chinese government, enabling extensive control over content moderation. Sen Hawley opened the hearing by saying that Meta had “stopped at absolutely nothing to prevent” Wednesday’s testimony by Ms Wynn-Williams. He also said, “Why is it that Facebook is so desperate to prevent this witness from telling what she knows?” “The greatest trick Mark Zuckerberg ever pulled was wrapping the American flag around himself and calling himself a patriot and saying he …

Beijing bites back at US tariffs by curbing Hollywood imports

* Beijing bites back at US tariffs by curbing Hollywood imports China restricts Hollywood imports in response to US tariffs * Hollywood’s share in China’s box office drops to 5% * Domestic films dominate China’s box office, accounting for 80% of revenue BEIJING, – China said on Thursday it would immediately restrict imports of Hollywood films in retaliation for President Donald Trump’s escalation of U.S. tariffs on imported Chinese goods, targeting one of the most high-profile American exports. Industry analysts said the financial impact was likely to be minimal, however, because Hollywood’s box office returns in China have declined significantly in recent years. After three decades during which China imported 10 Hollywood movies per year, Beijing’s National Film Administration said Trump’s tariff actions would further sour domestic demand for U.S. cinema in China. “We will follow market rules, respect the audience’s choices, and moderately reduce the number of American films imported,” the NFA said on its website. Hollywood studios once looked to China, the world’s second-largest film market, to help boost box office performance of …
