England vs Zimbabwe One-Off Test, Day 2, Live Updates© AFP England vs Zimbabwe One-Off Test, Day 2, Live Updates: England will be resuming the Day 2 of the ongoing One-Off Test against Zimbabwe from 498/3. Currently, Ollie Pope (169*) and Harry brook (9*) are standing unbeaten at the crease. The number three Pope top-scored with 169 not out at better than a run-a-ball. That England almost made 500 runs in a day, allied to Pope’s fourth score of over 150 at this level, emphasised the gulf between the sides in what is Zimbabwe’s first Test in England in 22 years. England Skipper Ben Stokes Reveals Text Message He Sent To Virat Kohli After His Test Retirement

England Test captain Ben Stokes will miss batting maestro Virat Kohli’s cover drive, a shot that will “live long in the memory” and highlight one aspect that India will miss about its stalwart in the upcoming five high-stakes Tests between the two sides, set to begin on June 20. More than a month before India’s gruelling Test tour of England, Virat bid farewell to red-ball cricket with a heartfelt note on Instagram, days after his long-time compatriot Rohit retired from the format. The illustrious 14-year-long journey filled with tales of success, perseverance and heartbreak saw Virat reshape the way spectators perceived Test cricket. Virat transformed India into a result-producing machine during his memorable stint in the whites. He infused aggression and the culture of fitness into a team riddled with youth and experience. In a career that redefined the demands of the game, Virat scored 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85, with 30 centuries and 31 fifties, and finished as India’s fourth-highest run-getter in the format. “He’s been incredible. He deserves all …

Ben Stokes Quits Alcohol, Says “Not Had A Drink Since…”

Ben Stokes said that he has quit alcohol© Instagram England’s Test captain Ben Stokes has quit drinking alcohol during his ongoing hamstring injury rehabilitation in an effort to be battle-ready for the upcoming Ashes series against traditional rivals Australia. The flamboyant cricketer said he gave up drinking at the start of the year in the hope abstinence would hasten his recovery from the injury. The 33-year-old Stokes had surgery on his left hamstring in December after suffering a tear during the third Test against New Zealand, which ruled him out of action for a prolonged period. “After my first major injury, I remember the shock of it and after the initial adrenaline had stopped I was thinking, ‘How has this happened?’” Stokes told the Untapped podcast. “(I thought) ‘We did have a bit of a drink four or five nights ago, could that have played a part?’ It wouldn’t have helped. “Then I was like ‘OK, I need to start changing what I do’.” Stokes tore his hamstring in the Hundred last year …

“Complete And Utter…”: Ben Stokes Responds To Criticism Of England’s Training Methods

Ahead of England’s white-ball series against West Indies, star all-rounder Ben Stokes has broken his silence on the criticism that the Three Lions face for their practice methods. The England cricket team has been receiving huge slamming of late, following their poor form. Some former players and experts even claimed that the England players were more focussed on playing golf than cricket. Such remarks were made during the team’s visit to India for a five-match ODI series and three T20Is in January this year. While the hosts had thrashed England 4-1 in the ODI series, they clean swept the guests in the T20I series that followed. In an even poorer performance, England ended up exiting the 2025 Champions Trophy from the group stage itself after losing all the three matches played. This even led to Jos Buttler stepping down from the role of England’s white-ball captaincy which has now been handed to Harry Brook. “When you hear comments saying we don’t train hard enough, we’re more bothered about golf, we don’t work hard …

Huge Concern For England Cricket, Qualification For 2027 World Cup Could Be In Doubt. Here’s Why

Huge Concern For England Cricket, Qualification For 2027 World Cup Could Be In Doubt. Here’s Why

England have slipped to eighth place in the ICC Men’s ODI rankings following the annual update last week, raising concerns about their direct qualification for the 2027 ODI World Cup, as per Wisden. The rankings update with each match and series played, but annual update reduces the impact of matches older than a year and completely removes results from over three years ago. As a result, England, despite climbing to No. 2 in the Test rankings, dropped to eighth in ODIs. Between May 4, 2024 and May 4, 2025, they managed just three wins in 14 ODIs, giving them a win/loss ratio of 0.272 — better only than Nepal and Bangladesh in that period. This decline could affect their path to the next World Cup. The 2027 edition will feature 14 teams. South Africa and Zimbabwe have already secured their spots as co-hosts. Namibia, another host, won’t get automatic entry because only ICC Full Member hosts get that benefit. Eight other teams will qualify directly through the ODI rankings, excluding the host nations. …

“My Concern For England…”: Australia Great Criticises Bazball, Gives Prediction For Ashes vs Australia

Former Australian pacer Jason Gillespie backed Australia to retain the Ashes 2025-26 series at home, saying that the conditions will offer enough support to Australian bowlers but that England could falter with the bat in Australian conditions, costing them the prestigious series. The Ashes series 2025-26 will kickstart in Perth from November 21 onwards. Currently, the Ashes urn is with England following a 2-2 draw in the UK. England has not won a Test in Australia since 2011, when they last won the series. They had lost all two previous series in Australia by 4-0 and faced a whitewash in 2013. They have not held the prestigious urn at home either, drawing the series in 2019 and 2023. Speaking on Wisden Cricket Patreon channel, the former pacer, a four-time Ashes winner himself, said, as quoted by Wisden, “I do not think so. I think Australia play incredibly well in home conditions. My concern for England is, how are they going to take 20 wickets? But also, are they adaptable enough with the bat?” …

England Test captain Ben Stokes To Miss Early County Games In Fitness Battle

Ben Stokes is not expected to play in the early rounds of the County Championship as he battles to be fit to lead England, his Durham coach Ryan Campbell said on Monday. The 33-year-old Test captain is recovering from hamstring surgery after breaking down in New Zealand in December, his second hamstring tear in five months. But the all-rounder is not yet ready for action in the four-day domestic championship, which starts on Friday. England host Zimbabwe in May, with a five-Test series against India to follow. Later in the year they head to Australia for a five-match Ashes series. Durham have six matches in the top tier of the County Championship before the Zimbabwe Test. Campbell, who is also without England quicks Brydon Carse (toe) and Mark Wood (knee), made it clear no risks would be taken. “When you look at Carse, Stokes and Wood, at this stage they’re probably not likely to play for us. My expectation is that it’ll be zero — anything else is an added bonus,” he said. …

“This Is Not A Joke”: R Ashwin Launches Scathing Rant On England Star’s ‘Don’t Care If We Lose To India’ Comment

England suffered an embarrassing 3-0 ODI series defeat and 4-1 T20I series defeat at the hands of India in their recently-concluded tour, and legendary India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has launched a scathing criticism on them. In particular, Ashwin expressed disappointment at how lightly England seemingly took the series, and also emphasized his disapproval of excuses used by England following their defeats. In particular, England opener Ben Duckett came under the hammer from Ashwin after he’d said that they don’t mind losing the series 3-0 as long as England beat India in the Champions Trophy. “If we lose 3-0 to India, I don’t care as long as we beat them in the final in the Champions Trophy. No one will probably look back on this series if we go and do the business in that competition,” Duckett had said after the 3-0 ODI series defeat. Ashwin sharply responded to Duckett’s statements. “No matter what Ben Duckett says, going into the Champions Trophy this series loss will create a big dent to their confidence,” Ashwin …

Big Blow For England: Ben Stokes To Skip India Tour, Champions Trophy. The Reason Is…

England Test captain Ben Stokes has been ruled out of next year’s Champions Trophy one-day international tournament in Pakistan and the preceding white-ball tour of India, team management announced Sunday. The 33-year-old star all-rounder was not considered  after damaging a hamstring during England’s defeat by New Zealand in the third Test at Hamilton earlier this month. “Durham all-rounder Ben Stokes was not considered for selection as he continues to be assessed following a left hamstring injury sustained,” said an England and Wales Cricket Board statement. Stokes did not bat in the second innings of that match as England slumped to a 423-run defeat — a result that meant his side still won a three-match series 2-1. He previously missed this year’s home series against Sri Lanka and the first Test in Pakistan due to hamstring issues. With England facing a five-match Test series at home to India starting in June before their pinnacle 2025/26 Ashes tour of Australia, team management have decided against risking inspirational red-ball skipper Stokes. Key batsman Joe Root, who …

3rd Test: New Zealand Crush England To Send Tim Southee Out On A High

New Zealand tore through England’s batting Tuesday to crush the visitors by 423 runs in the third Test and send Tim Southee into retirement on a triumphant note. The hosts sealed a dominant performance in Hamilton by claiming seven wickets in 41.2 overs on day four as England crumbled for 234. It was New Zealand’s equal highest victory by runs and a complete reversal from the first two Tests, which England won easily to clinch the three-match series. Playing on his home ground at Seddon Park, seamer Southee finished with 2-34 in his 107th and final Test, ending the career of one of New Zealand’s finest players.  He finishes with 391 Test wickets, second only to Richard Hadlee among New Zealanders. “I want to thank New Zealand Cricket for everything you have done. My family, who are there for the ride and see the ups and downs,” said the 36-year-old Southee. “And my team-mates. These guys have made the ride so much more enjoyable, I have loved every minute. “And finally the fans. …
