Daily Briefing: Probe finds major overlap between NEET Chemistry question paper and ‘guess sheet’ | Live News

Hundreds of workers, including machine operators, technicians and stitching workers, at a textile factory in Nagpur have been asked to wear a small recording device throughout their shift. The exercise reflects a growing global push by artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics companies to gather what’s being called “egocentric data” — first-person recordings of human activity that can teach machines how people perform physical tasks. According to a report by investment firm Stellaris Venture Partners, released in April, robotics labs have a need for 100 million to 1 billion hours of this data over the next 2-3 years. One of the workers, sharing the development with The Indian Express, says: “It feels like working in your own grave, while you make your own casket.” With that, let’s move on to the top stories from today’s edition: Chemistry question paper in NEET leak Bihar’s powerplay in IPL Cow markets in Bengal emptied out 🚨 Big Story An overall match of Chemistry questions in the ‘guess paper’ with the actual NEET paper led the National Testing Agency (NTA) …

Russia to fulfil all agreements on energy supply to India: FM Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has pledged that agreements on energy supplies to India will be fulfilled despite unfair external competition, as he underlined that the relations between the two countries are based on friendship and there is no scenario in which their paths would diverge. In an interview with Russia Today-India ahead of his visit to New Delhi this week, Mr. Lavrov also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he is one of the most energetic leaders the world has ever seen. “I can guarantee that India’s interests as they apply to Russian supplies will not suffer. We will do everything to ensure that this unfair and dishonest competition does not damage our agreements,” he said. Mr. Lavrov pointed out that Russia has never failed to fulfil its obligations to India or anyone else when it comes to energy supplies. “The Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant is our flagship project. It meets a significant share of India’s needs,” he said. “Cooperation on the construction of new power units for this nuclear plant is continuing. Even …

P Chidambaram writes: It is too early to tell

My favourite anecdote about Mao Tse Tung is his answer when asked what will be the impact of the French Revolution on human history. Mao, reportedly, thought for a while and said, “It is too early to tell.” China waits. China is patient. China does not boast that it is the second largest economy in the world or set a date for becoming the largest. These qualities are rare in an emerging powerhouse. On the flip side, China is not a democracy and its people do not enjoy the freedoms that democracies cherish. By contrast, India is, by and large, democratic, as well as noisy and quarrelsome. India also celebrates prematurely. For example, the medals table in the Paris Olympics 2024 read: There were more celebrations in India than in the United States or China. Contrasting announcements The contrast was visible when the agreement between the two countries on ‘patrolling arrangements’ along the Line of Actual Control was announced a few days ago. It is the first breakthrough after the clashes in May 2020. On …

Kazan, Russia: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the need for unified action against terrorism at the 16th BRICS Summit. He stressed that combating terrorism requires “single-minded” focus and “firm-support” of all nations. He asserted that “double-standards” have no place in addressing this global challenge. He also highlighted how important it is to stop radicalisation of young people and urged action to counter terrorism and terror financing. These remarks come after China had blocked several proposals at the United Nations to designate Pakistan-based terrorists. “We must work together on the long-pending matter in the UN of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism,” PM Modi said. He also added that work needs to be done on global regulations for cyber security and for safe AI. Furthermore, he spoke about the expansion of the BRICS forum. “India is ready to welcome new countries into BRICS as partner countries,” he said.
