CAG Murmu assumes charge of chairman of the international audit body | India News
Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Girish Chandra Murmu, has assumed chairmanship of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI), an international body having 48 SAIs as its members. Murmu assumed charge of the 16th Assembly of the ASOSAI, which is going on in the National Capital. The ASOSAI, is an “important” regional group under the umbrella of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), and it was founded in New Delhi in 1979, with only 11 members. Addressing a press conference after assuming the chairmanship on Wednesday, Murmu said that the ASOSAI’s focus will be on technology-driven audits, and the audit of local bodies, during India’s chair from 2024-2027. “The 16th ASOSAI Assembly symbolizes a renewed commitment to cooperation and capacity-building among SAIs across Asia. It marks a turning point, with the assembly expected to conclude with the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration, which will lay the roadmap for future collaborations and innovations in public audit practices.
