Kuxiu’s solid-state power bank now has more capacity and faster wireless charging

Kuxiu’s solid-state power bank now has more capacity and faster wireless charging

Seven months after launching its first semi-solid state battery that used a safer and longer-lasting solid-liquid mixed electrolyte, Kuxiu is introducing a new version with some welcome upgrades. The S3 has twice the capacity of the S2 at 10,000mAh – 5,000mAh at 7.7V (38.5Wh) – that the company says is enough to nearly double an iPhone’s battery life, but that will vary depending on the model. The Kuxiu S3 is also Qi2.2-compatible so it can wirelessly charge compatible devices at up to 25W. Its larger battery means it’s over 100g heavier than the 145g S2, but Kuxiu has increased the number of N52 magnets it uses from 16 to 18 to help reduce the risk of the power bank being accidentally knocked off your phone. There’s an integrated kickstand now on the back, a small display showing its remaining capacity and charging status, and a built-in cable for charging other devices through a USB-C port with power delivery rated at up to 35W. As with the previous model, the S3 is more expensive than traditional …

Building capacity for data storage top priority of MeitY: Secretary

S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, Government of India, unveiled a bronze statue of Mrs. YGP during the centenary celebrations held in Chennai on Wednesday. | Photo Credit: RAGHUNATHAN SR Building capacity to store data in the country has been accorded top priority by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the department’s secretary, S. Krishnan, said here on Wednesday. Speaking at Dr. (Mrs.) YGP’s Centenary Celebrations, Mr. Krishnan said India generated 20% of the world’s data, but had the capacity to store merely 4%. “Unless we create capacity, we can’t even store the data. At the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, it is our top priority to see how we build this strength over a period of time in every space,” he added. The present geopolitical context was a stark departure from the past — free trade and exchanges have been replaced by trade barriers and restrictions. This meant that resilience had to be built, country by country, Mr. Krishnan said. Recalling Mrs. YGP’s efforts to promote pure science and mathematics among young …

Rejuvenation helps Otteri lake in Vellore to reach full capacity since 2021 floods

Spread over 19 acres, the Otteri lake was built in 1904 to provide a regular water supply to British troops stationed inside Vellore fort. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT Rejuvenation of Otteri lake, a British-era man-made facility, on the outskirts of Vellore Corporation, has helped the waterbody to reach its full storage capacity on Saturday since the 2021 floods. Officials of Vellore Corporation, which maintains the waterbody, said that regular rain in catchment areas like Palamathi, Kolavimedu and Naickaneri tribal hamlets at Jawadhu Hills in October has gradually increased water level in the lake. “Water from the lake is also drawn to meet the water needs of residents within civic body limits. The full capacity of the lake also helps to recharge groundwater in its surrounding,” said R. Lakshman, Commissioner, Vellore Corporation. Spread over 19 acres, the Otteri lake was built in 1904 to provide a regular water supply to British troops stationed inside Vellore fort. Pipelines and Over Head Tanks (OHTs) were built to supply water from the lake to officers’ quarters inside the …

Too many strays, too few shelters: NGOs say they do not have the capacity to act on SC’s dog orders | Delhi News

The Supreme Court’s direction on Friday to “forthwith” remove “every stray dog” from public premises including educational institutions, hospitals, and transport hubs “to a designated shelter”, and to not release them “back to the…location from which they were picked up”, has triggered concern over the logistics of housing the captured animals. There are an estimated 8 lakh strays in Delhi, and the animal welfare nonprofits with whose help the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) tries to manage this population may not have the capacity to handle the load. The court has said that the dogs must be put in shelters “after due sterilisation and vaccination in accordance with the Animal Birth Control Rules”. Story continues below this ad The MCD carries out sterilisation and immunisation through 13 registered NGOs who operate 20 Animal Birth Control (ABC) Centres across Delhi. Each centre can house between 80 and 200 dogs. A total 54,623 dogs have been sterilised and immunised between April and September 2025, the MCD has submitted to the SC in an affidavit. “Currently we have …

‘Must explore fuel cycle options instead of reactor options to step up nuclear capacity, bring thorium into the mix early’: Anil Kakodkar | Business News

Amid delays in plans for large-scale deployment of Fast Breeder Reactors (FBR) — the vital second stage of India’s three-stage atomic energy programme — one of the country’s top nuclear scientists has said that a solution could lie in the country’s policy makers looking at fuel cycle options instead of reactor options. The delays in FBR deployment is bad news for India’s nuclear programme, given that these reactors envisaged the use of recycled fuel while breeding much more fissile fuel. How India can side-step FBR deployment delays A quick solution to tide over this problem could lie in irradiating thorium — the radioactive metallic element named after the Norse god that has been a long standing hope for India’s true energy security — along with a fuel variant called high assay, low enriched uranium (HALEU) in the country’s pressurised heavy-water reactors (PHWRs) at scale, Anil Kakodkar, former director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, told The Indian Express. Story continues below this ad The used fuel from these PHWRs — the mainstay of India’s nuclear power …

India needs 600 GW non-fossil fuel capacity to meet growing power demand: Study | Latest News India

India needs to scale up its non-fossil-fuel capacity to 600 GW by 2030 to meet its growing electricity demand reliably and affordably, a Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) study has said. CEEW, a New Delhi-based not-for-profit think tank and policy institution, said the study titled “How Can India Meet Its Rising Power Demand? Pathways to 2030” is the first-of-its-kind modelling of India’s power system despatch for every 15 minutes in 2030. The study said failing to meet the 2030 non-fossil target will lead to suboptimal outcomes. (Reuters/Representative) The study found India’s existing, under-construction, and planned generation capacities would meet power needs in 2030 if electricity demand grows as per the Central Electricity Authority’s (CEA) projections. It said a high renewable energy (RE) pathway of 600 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030 offers the most viable solution if power demand continues to outpace current projections due to climate change-induced warming or strong economic growth over the coming five years. “This would include 377 GW of solar, 148 GW of wind, 62 GW of hydro, …

Real estate is not just about tall buildings, but also data centres and Global Capacity Centres: BJP leader Smriti Irani

Real estate is not just about tall buildings, but also data centres and Global Capacity Centres: BJP leader Smriti Irani

Real estate is not only about building tall towers or gated communities for people, either in big cities or emerging cities, but it is also about building capacities for the future data centres and building capacities for attracting more Global Capacity Centres into the country, said BJP leader Smriti Irani on March 7 at the New India Summit organized by the real estate developers’ apex body, CREDAI, in Nashik, Maharashtra. Smriti Irani said that with the growing digital engagement in our democracy, the demand for more data centres would arise. (Mehul Thakkar ) “I think even real estate from the perspective of, is it only about building tall towers, or, let’s say community, gated communities for people, either in big cities or emerging cities, it is also about building, let’s say, capacities for the future data centres. It is also building capacities for GCCs to come into our country more and more,” Irani said. Currently, she said there are 1,600 GCCs in India and close to 1.6 to 2 million people are working in those …
