The accused have left their home, and we are searching for them,” said a police officer. According to the police, the sisters, aged 18 and 17, were riding a moped to their tuition classes when they were intercepted by a car. Their schoolmate, a Class 9 student, accompanied by her parents and grandmother, allegedly confronted them, accusing the sisters of teasing the younger girl. The police said the adults hurled abuses at the sisters before the girl’s father allegedly asked his daughter to bring a cricket bat from the car and instructed her to beat them. Closed-circuit television footage recovered from the Ram temple in Ayodhya shows at least five of the eight men arrested for the alleged theft of donated funds removing and hiding cash during the counting process. Sources in Ayodhya police said thorough scanning of 45 days of footage from the temple’s Pilgrim Facility Centre showed five counting personnel removing bundles of notes and hiding them in their clothes or socks. Days after a gang assaulted a motorcyclist and robbed him of Rs 23,000 cash in Beed district of Maharashtra, police have arrested four of its members, officials said on Tuesday. The incident had occurred near Samnapur village on the Dhule-Solapur highway on Beed Bypass Road in the early hours of June 16, news agency PTI reported, quoting officials. The complainant, 42-year-old Radheshyam Nandlal Parikh, was riding his motorcycle from Pali in Beed tehsil towards Beed when four unidentified men intercepted him around 2.30 am. They assaulted him and robbed Rs 23,000 cash he was carrying, before fleeing, an official said. Based on a complaint, a case was registered with the Beed Rural police station under section 309 (6) (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
