‘Tastes like chemical’: Namita Thapar slams beverage brand 3 Sisters; Viraj Bahl-Varun Alagh question ‘cluttered’ vision | Television News

The ‘sharks’ of Shark Tank India have adopted a far more scrutinising approach this season. That cautious stance was evident in the latest episode, where two of the three pitchers left without a deal. Among them were the founders of beverage brand 3 Sisters, who appeared on Shark Tank India Season 5 to showcase their product range but failed to convince the ‘sharks’ to invest in their company. In fact, the brand’s product variations drew sharp feedback and pointed criticism from Varun Alagh, Viraj Bahl, Vineeta Singh, Namita Thapar, and Kunal Bahl. 3 Sisters is a new-age beverage brand specialising in non-alcoholic beers. The company began with three flavours and has since expanded its portfolio to include multiple sub-brands. It has also diversified into party mixers and flavoured sodas. Founded by Mumbai-based entrepreneurs Manish Kanunga, Nimish Solanki, Akshay Solanki, and Sanjay Prasad Bari, the team entered Shark Tank India seeking an investment of Rs 3 crore for 2.5% equity, valuing the company at Rs 120 crore. Chemical analysis of gold cladding confirms ‘methodical’ modus operandi| India News

The chemical analysis of gold-cladded sheets at the Sabarimala temple by scientists at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) has confirmed a ‘systematic and methodical’ process of gold tampering and substitution, the Kerala high court said on Monday. The court noted that the chemical composition of the gold plates shown in the report was evidence for a systematic and methodical modus operandi employed to execute the theft. (PTI) The bench of Justices Raja Vijaraghavan V and KV Jayakumar, in an interim order, underlined that the apprehensions earlier expressed by the court about misappropriation and pilferage of gold assets from the temple “stand prima facie reinforced.” The court made the observations after studying the technical report at VSSC and submitted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the case. Gold panelling was allegedly misappropriated from the sheets and the door frames in 2019 when they were taken out of the temple under the guise of renovation and replating. So far, 11 persons including top Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) officials and political leaders have been arrested over …

Study warns of chemical pollution threat to endangered Gangetic dolphins

Study warns of chemical pollution threat to endangered Gangetic dolphins

A recent study published in the journal ‘Heliyon’ by the Wildlife Institute of India reveals that Gangetic dolphins are being exposed to harmful endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) through their diet. Researchers assessed the dietary risk from 39 EDCs present in fish species commonly consumed by these freshwater mammals. The study found significant bioaccumulation of industrial chemicals like di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and di-n-butyl phthalate (DnBP) in the dolphins’ prey. Additionally, traces of banned pesticides such as DDT and Lindane (γ-HCH) were detected, highlighting weak enforcement of environmental laws in the Ganga basin. The Gangetic dolphin population has dropped by over 50 per cent since 1957, and their habitat range has decreased by nearly 25 per cent, despite their status as India’s national aquatic animal. With only five species of river dolphins remaining worldwide, the study warned that India could risk a repeat of the Yangtze River tragedy, where a similar species went extinct due to unchecked human activities. The study identifies multiple sources of chemical contamination affecting Gangetic dolphins, including agricultural runoff, untreated effluents from the textile …
