Lee Sang-min reveals earning 1.5 billion won a year after clearing billions in debt

Singer-songwriter and TV personality Lee Sang-min’s financial history has been in the spotlight for years in South Korea. It took him 17 years to clear it all and in 2024, he finally became debt-free. But recently, his new financial state came to light on a game show, leaving everyone surprised. In the latest episode of the Wavve survival reality show Blood Game X, which released on Friday, Sang-min revealed that he earned 1.5 billion won (approx ₹9.33 crore) last year. The cast members on the show were asked to reveal their previous year’s income as part of a challenge which would determine their team’s starting funds. Lee was leading team P1, which saw his fellow contestants reveal their earnings to be 50 million won (approx ₹31 lakh), 80 million won (approx ₹50 lakh) and 200 million won (approx ₹1.24 crore), respectively. The Raj Bhavan has denied that Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi caused a delay in giving his assent to the Bills passed by the State Assembly and said 81 per cent of the Bills have been assented to by the Governor. Taking exception to certain “unfounded and factually incorrect allegations” made in public domain that Governor was delaying assent to the Bills passed by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, and that his “actions were against the interests of the people,” the Raj Bhavan said the official records of Raj Bhavan showed of the total Bills received as on October 31, as much as 81 per cent were assented. And 95 of these have been given the nod within three months. “13 per cent of the Bills have been reserved for the consideration of the President (60 per cent of these Bills have been reserved on the recommendation of the State Government),” a release said on November 7. Contractors who have evinced interest in taking up the project of clearing the Deonar dumping ground in Mumbai on Friday attended the first pre-bid meeting, where they expressed concerns over the deadline of three years given by the BMC to clear the piles of legacy waste from the land parcel. On May 14, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) floated a tender worth Rs 2,368 crore for clearing 271 acres (110 hectares) of 311 acres of the Deonar dumping ground through the process of bioremediation within three-years. Currently, the dumping ground houses 1.85 crore metric tonnes of legacy waste that has been lying at the site for nearly a century. The BMC’s move of floating the tender came after the state government, in October last year, allocated a 124-acre portion of the Deonar landfill to construct housing tenements under the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP)—a venture steered by the Maharashtra government and the Adani group. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Wednesday floated a Rs 2,368-crore tender for cleaning waste piles from the Deonar landfill through biomining. The move comes ahead of the state government’s plans to relocate a section of Dharavi residents under its redevelopment project. Almost seven months ago, in October 2024, the state government allocated a 124-acre portion of the larger 311-acre Deonar landfill for constructing housing tenements for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP), a joint venture of the Maharashtra government and Adani Group. In its tender document, civic officials mentioned that they will clear 110 hectares or 271 acres of land. “Alongside the portion that has been demarcated for the DRP, several other areas of the land parcel will also be cleared. This includes the portion of land parcel where a waste-to-energy (WTE) and a bio-CNG plants are coming up,” said a civic official.
