Lionel Messi Suffers Worst Defeat In Major League Soccer As Inter Miami Fall Again

MLS: Minnesota United defeated Inter Miami 4-1© AFP Lionel Messi suffered the heaviest defeat of his MLS career as Inter Miami crashed to a 4-1 defeat against Minnesota United on Saturday. The Argentine scored in the second half but Miami’s defence was once again exposed as they fell to a fourth defeat in their last five games in all competitions – a run which has seen them concede 14 goals. With Luis Suarez injured, Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano opted to play without a recognised target striker with Messi floating in front of a five-man midfield. Bongokuhle Hlongwane fired Minnesota ahead in the 32nd minute after Miami’s defence was exposed by a clever pass from Joaquín Pereyra to Carlos Harvey who picked out the South African international striker in the box. Messi provided the first real reminder of his presence six minutes later when he worked some space in a crowded area but his low right-foot shot was harmless. Minnesota doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time when a long throw from …

Lionel Messi And Inter Miami Denied In Front Of Record Chicago Crowd

Inter Miami failed to score for the first time this season in Major League Soccer as they were held to a goalless draw by the Chicago Fire on Sunday. A club-record crowd of 62,358 packed into Soldier Field for the visit of Lionel Messi and his Inter team to witness a gutsy display from the home side. Chicago, coached by former USA boss Gregg Berhalter, limited Messi and his former Barcelona strike partner Luis Suarez to just a handful of opportunities. The best effort from Messi, who played the full game, came in the third minute when he unleashed a snap shot from outside the box which was denied by a fine, diving save from Fire keeper Chris Brady. There was no sense of Chicago being overawed by the big crowd at the stadium they share with the NFL’s Bears and they went close twice in the opening half with Mauricio Pineda forcing Oscar Ustari into a full stretch save and then Philip Zinckernagel striking the outside of the post from a narrow …

Paul Pogba Could Link Up With Lionel Messi After Return From Doping Ban, In Talks With Inter Miami

Paul Pogba can return to competition from Tuesday as the former France star’s 18-month doping ban expired — but he needs to find a club. The player who graced the midfield of Manchester United and Juventus is hoping to put three chaotic years behind him and is searching for a new employer with a view to playing in the 2026 World Cup, with David Beckham‘s MLS side Inter Miami among his possible options. The 91-times capped midfielder suffered through repeated injuries and patchy form that led to his departure from United in 2022. He returned for a second stint at Juventus, where problems continued to dog him. A failed drugs test after a game in Italy in August 2023 resulted in a four-year doping ban which was reduced on appeal. Pogba blamed a food supplement prescribed by a doctor he consulted in the United States for the positive test. Juventus terminated his contract last November, but Pogba “is training at 1,000 percent, he’s in good spirits, he has received many offers”, a member …

Yassine Cheuko, the personal bodyguard of Lionel Messi, has become a viral sensation, ever since the Argentine World Cup-winning captain’s move to Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami. During Inter Miami’s matches, Cheuko can be often seen standing close to pitch side, in order to protect the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star from fans and intruders. On Monday, Inter Miami defeated Sporting San Miguelito 3-1 in a pre-season game in Panama. However, a fan took Cheuko out after entering the pitch to meet Messi. As the fan sprinted towards Messi, Cheuka tried to stop him from doing so. However, while trying to change direction, the slipped and accidentally slide-tackled Cheuko in the process. Atlanta Late Show Stuns Lionel Messi And Inter Miami In MLS Playoffs

Atlanta United snatched a dramatic last-gasp 2-1 playoff victory over Inter Miami on Saturday, jolting Lionel Messi‘s hopes of leading the Florida club to MLS Cup glory. Portuguese winger Xande Silva blasted home a sensational winner for Atlanta in the fourth minute of stoppage time in front of 68,455 home fans at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium to level the best-of-three postseason series 1-1 and set up a winner-take-all game three in Miami next Saturday. Top seeds Miami, 2-1 winners in game one last week, had looked to be heading for a series victory after taking the lead through Paraguay international David Martinez in the 40th minute after a terrible blunder by former US goalkeeper Brad Guzan. Guzan could only watch in horror after he bungled a routine clearance from his own penalty area, allowing Federico Redondo to gather possession and square a pass to Martinez who finished into an empty net for 1-0. But Atlanta launched a furious second-half onslaught as they battled to save their season and were rewarded when Derrick Williams crashed …

Lionel Messi Scores Free Kick Stunner To Leave Internet In Complete Awe – Watch

Lionel Messi in action for Inter Miami© AFP Lionel Messi scored twice as Inter Miami beat the defending Major League Soccer champions the Columbus Crew 3-2 to clinch the Supporters’ Shield awarded for the best regular season record. Messi had been subdued until the 45th minute when he put Inter ahead — chesting down a long ball into the box and getting a lucky bounce off Crew defender Malte Amundsen before poking home. Minutes later, Messi made it 2-0, taking advantage of a poorly assembled wall to curl a laser-precision free-kick into the corner past the stationary Columbus keeper Patrick Schulte. But 20 seconds after the start of the second half, Columbus pulled a goal back when the ball fell to Diego Rossi just inside the box and he cleverly curled his shot into the far corner. Straight from the restart, Columbus gifted Miami a third when Schulte raced off his line but with defender Rudy Camacho in his way, he dropped the ball to Luis Suarez who headed into the unguarded goal. …

Despite Lionel Messi Goal, Inter Miami Fail To Win Third Consecutive MLS Game

Lionel Messi grabbed the equaliser as a misfiring Inter Miami were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Charlotte FC in Major League Soccer on Saturday. Elsewhere, the Seattle Sounders, Houston Dynamo, New York Red Bulls, New York City, LAFC and Orlando City all secured their places in the playoffs. Despite the setback of a third straight draw, Miami — already assured of a place in the playoffs — remain top of the Eastern Conference and the Supporters Shield regular season standings. Charlotte, coached by former Aston Villa boss Dean Smith, took the lead in the 57th minute when a low shot from Brandt Bronico deflected off Karol Swiderski and beat Miami keeper Drake Callender. The goal added some needed urgency to Miami’s approach and Jordi Alba found his former Barcelona team-mate Messi with a cross from the left, but the Argentine’s header was straight at goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina. The Croatian keeper then did well to keep out a Messi drive from the edge of the box. Moments later Messi, just outside …
