However, the Auto-LPG segment, largely managed by private operators, is facing pressure due to a decline in imports, said Hyderabad District Collector Hari Chandana Dasari on Wednesday. The Collector was speaking at a district-level Energy Supply Monitoring Committee meeting where she reviewed the availability, stock levels and supply status of petrol, diesel and LPG with distributors and agency operators. The State Revenue and Survey Awards have been announced, with Thrissur District Collector Arjun Pandian selected as the Best District Collector and the Thiruvananthapuram Collectorate adjudged the Best Collectorate. The awards were declared by Revenue Minister K. Rajan while addressing the media in Thrissur on Saturday. O.V. Alfred (Thiruvananthapuram) was named Best Sub-Collector, while G. Suresh Babu of Punalur in Kollam district was chosen as the Best Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO). The RDO Office, Thrissur, was selected as the Best Revenue Divisional Office. Among Deputy Collectors, K. Sunilkumar (Palakkad) was selected as Best Deputy Collector (General), P.A. Vibhushanan (Thrissur) as Best Deputy Collector (Revenue Recovery), C. Premji (Alappuzha) as Best Deputy Collector (Disaster Management), and R. Sudheesh (Alappuzha) as Best Deputy Collector (Land Reforms). Road safety is every individual’s responsibility, says Anantapur in-charge Collector

Anantapur district in-charge Collector C. Vishnu Charan said that road safety was every individual’s responsibility and motorists should compulsorily wear a helmet while riding a vehicle and maintain discipline to avoid accidents. A rally was taken on this regard to create awareness on road safety from the Municipal office to Clock Tower in Anantapur on Thursday. Mr. Vishnu Charan flagged off the rally, which saw the participation of IPS trainee Ashwin Manideep, Deputy Transport Commissioner (DTC) Veerraju and other officials. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vishnu Charan said that month-long road safety awareness programmes were being held and 96 programmes were organised in the past 21 days in the district. More than 5,000 students and 2,000 drivers and motorists participated in these programmes. The stir against toll collection at the Kumbala-Arikkady toll plaza would continue, protesters announced on Wednesday. The decision followed a meeting between District Collector K. Inbasekar and five MLAs from the district, which ended without any agreement. Officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) maintained that toll collection could not be stopped, and it would continue under the existing system. Subbulaxmi flagged off a road safety awareness rally near new bus terminus, off the Chennai – Bengaluru Highway (NH 48) in Vellore on Tuesday as part of National Road Safety Awareness Month. Accompanied by the Superintendent of Police (SP) A. Myilvaganan, Ms. Subbulaxmi also spoke to a few motorists, who did not wear helmets, about the dangers of head injuries. The rally brought together more than 200 bikers, who are mostly students and police personnel. They carried placards with messages such as ‘Don’t drink and drive’ and ‘Wear helmet’, and raised slogans on road safety, drawing the attention of passers-by and motorists along the route. The rally navigated through key stretches near Katpadi, Old Town before ending at Gandhi statue inside the fort complex. Parvatipuram Collector launches Helping Hands programme in hospitals

Parvatipuram-Manyam Collector N. Prabhakar Reddy on Tuesday (January 06) formally launched Helping Hands programme in Parvatipuram area hospital with an aim to ensure hassle-free services to patients and their attendants. He said that the selected volunteers would guide the needy patients and their family members at all 12 area hospitals and community health centers in the district as the trail run was successfully completed in Saluru hospital recently. Speaking to media here, he said that members of various organisations including Indian Red Cross Society, Rotary Club, Lions Club, senior citizens welfare association and others had come forward to spare time to assist the patients at hospitals. According to him, many patients and attendants who are tribals are facing difficulties in getting services at the hospitals. The volunteers at the help desks will guide them in meeting the doctors concerned and get other services. Mr. Prabhakar said that the persons who would complete one month service would be given certificates.
