Unlike the British engineering company’s flagship fans, hair dryers, and vacuums, the new Dyson WashG1 floor washing machine doesn’t use precision-engineered fans or a fine-tuned Hyperdymium motor. Gold worth Rs 4.92 crore stolen from finance company`s office in Nashik

Two persons broke into the office of a home finance company and decamped with gold worth Rs 4.92 crore in Maharashtra`s Nashik city, police said on Monday, reported the PTI. The incident occurred at the Indira Heights commercial complex in the old Gangapur Naka area in the wee hours of Saturday when two unidentified persons broke into the office of the company, an official said, as per the PTI. Gold ornaments worth Rs 4.92 crore belonging to 222 customers were kept in a safety locker of the finance company, he said. The theft came to light when one of the staffers found the locker empty on Saturday evening, following which the police were informed, the official said. According to the PTI, during the probe, the CCTV footage from the office showed two unidentified persons entering the premises from a window in one of the cabins and using keys from the office to open the safety locker, decamping with the jewellery, he said. Microsoft Phi-3 Launched as Company’s Smallest Open-Source AI Model to Date

Microsoft on Tuesday released Phi-3, its smallest language artificial intelligence (AI) model to date. Smaller AI models are significant, because they have the potential to be run on smartphones. The latest AI model is the successor to Phi-2, which was released in December 2023, and comes with higher training database and larger parameters. The increased parameters help the AI model understand and respond to more complex questions compared to its predecessor. It is also claimed to be on par with models trained on more than 10 times the number of parameters used for Phi-3. A pre-print paper detailing the small language model (SLM) has been published on arXiv. However, as  arXiv does not conduct peer reviews, the validity of the claims is yet to be ascertained. China and India have been competing for major infrastructure projects in Sri Lanka (Representational) Sri Lanka on Friday awarded the construction of three solar and wind hybrid power generation facilities to an Indian company after scrapping a tender won by a Chinese firm. India has long been concerned about growing Chinese influence in the island nation, which sits near key global shipping lanes and which India considers to be within its sphere of influence. The project, initially financed by an Asian Development Bank (ADB) loan, was temporarily shelved two years ago after India raised concerns over China’s involvement. Sri Lanka’s energy ministry said Friday that the project had been revived and was now fully funded by an $11 million Indian government grant.
