The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced annual central contracts for the 2024-25 season, marking the return of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. Meanwhile, Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy have been handed maiden Contracts. The central contracts have been divided into four categories through which the Indian Cricketers’ salaries will be decided. India’s Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma and batting talisman Virat Kohli retained their place in the A+ bracket, while the previously axed duo of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan returned to the fold in the list, consisting of a total of 34 players across categories. The A grade, which commands an annual retainership fee of Rs 7 crore, also features Ravindra Jadeja and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, much like the last few years. Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced the central contract list for the men’s team for the 2025-26 season on Monday where it awarded 18 players with national contracts while two players earned hybrid contracts. However, the audit report found that the prerequisite civil works were not ready before awarding the contract because of a lack of coordination between the civil and electrical departments of the SECR, leading to inefficiencies and financial losses.
