Criminals held after firing at cops; 2 pistols, 7 cartridges seized | Pune News

Cops arrested three persons from a car and seized two country made pistols and seven live cartridges from their possession on Thursday following an incident where the trio opened fire at Pimpri Chinchwad police personnel near Somatane toll post in the early hours of the day. Police identified the three accused as Sunnysingh Papasingh Dudhani (24), Jalsingh Rajputsingh Dudhani (32), both residents of Hadapsar and Manish Babulal Kushwaha (28) of Morena in Madhya Pradesh. The three are criminals wanted in a prior theft case. Acting on a tip-off to police havaldar Vikaram Kudal, a crime branch team from Pimpri Chinchwad police, led by senior inspector Arvind Pawar, laid a trap at Somatane Phata to nab the suspects wanted in a theft case lodged at Ravet police station. The suspects reached the spot around 5.30 am in a car that they had stolen from Hinjewadi area a few days ago. Maharashtra Minister Chandrakant Patil on Friday held a meeting with Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to discuss the recent surge in crimes across the city. The police spokesperson said the incident took place in Mussoorie area late Sunday (May 25, 2025) night, when the team raided a location looking for Qadir, wanted in a case registered in Noida’s Phase-III Police Station. When the team caught Qadir, he and his associates attacked them with weapons, fired gunshots, and pelted them with stones. Constable Saurabh was shot in the head and was rushed to Yashoda Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Odisha’s Ex-IT Minister Loses Rs 1.4 Crore To Cyber Criminals: Cops

Bhubaneswar: An Odisha MLA and former information technology minister has lost Rs 1.4 to cyber fraud in around one-and-a-half months, a senior police officer said here on Monday. The police arrested seven people – four from Karnataka and three from Tamil Nadu – in connection with the case. The former minister, who lodged a police complaint in this regard in January, however, claimed that a friend of his had been using his trading account and lost the money. The accused and their associates used to pose as trade analysts and persuade people to invest money into initial public offerings (IPOs), shares, and other forms of trading, promising them high returns, the police officer said. During the investigation, the cybercrime unit of the Crime Branch found that the accused people fraudulently obtained Rs 1.40 crore from the complainant between November 13, 2024 and January 1, 2025, he said. “On January 13 this year, we received a complaint that cyber fraudsters swindled Rs 1.4 crore from the complainant through a mobile app,” Crime Branch IG Sarthak Sarangi …

Three criminals were arrested after a brief exchange of fire with police in Delhi`s Rohini area, an official said on Wednesday. Govind alias Kohli, Krishna alias Kinha and Daud alias Sameer were arrested around 10.30 pm on Wednesday after police set up a trap on the Pansali Road in Begampur following a tip-off that three inter-state criminals were planning an offence there, the official said. They were spotted in a stolen black Creta car on Helipad Road, Begampur. When police ordered them to halt, the history-sheeters fired five bullets on the cops, the official said. Police officers returned fire in self-defence, causing injuries to Govind and Krishna in their legs, the official said, adding the two were taken to the BSA Hospital. Daud was arrested and two pistols were recovered from him. Police also recovered two semi-automatic pistols, one live cartridge and four used shells from the accused.
