Marco Ebben, One Of Europe’s Most Wanted Criminals, Shot Dead In Mexico

Mexico City: A Dutch drug trafficker who was one of Europe’s most wanted criminals and once reportedly faked his own death has been murdered in Mexico, an official said Friday. Marco Ebben, 32, was shot on Thursday in Atizapan de Zaragoza, a municipality about 25 kilometers (15 miles) from the capital Mexico City. Experts confirmed Ebben’s identity, an official at the state prosecutor’s office told AFP, asking not to be named because they were not authorized to talk about the case. European law enforcement agency Europol listed Ebben as one of Europe’s “most wanted fugitives” for smuggling drugs from Brazil to the Netherlands. Its website says he was sentenced in October 2020 to more than seven years in prison. Between 2014 and 2015, Ebben and his accomplices allegedly smuggled 400 kilos of cocaine in containers filled with pineapples, according to Europol. To evade arrest, the Dutchman reportedly faked his death last October in the Mexican cartel stronghold of Culiacan amid a turf war between two factions of the Sinaloa Cartel. 4 criminals shot dead in encounter in Shamli, UP STF inspector injured | Delhi News

Four criminals allegedly belonging to the Mustafa Kagga gang were shot dead in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF) in Shamli’s Jhinjhana area early Tuesday. According to the police, UP STF inspector Sunil Kumar was injured in the firing by the criminals who were travelling in a car. Kumar, who received two bullet wounds, was first taken to Amrit Dhara Hospital and then to Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital. His condition is stated to be critical. “On intervening night Monday and Tuesday, Mustafa Kagga gang member Arshad of Saharanpur along with three others – Manjeet, Satish and one unknown accomplice – were injured in a police engagement with STF Meerut team,” said UP Police in a statement. WhatsApp Top Among Social Media Platforms Misused By Cyber Criminals: MHA

New Delhi: Social media platform WhatsApp followed by Telegram and Instagram remains one of the favourite hunting grounds for online scamsters, as per the latest report from the Union Home Ministry. In the first three months of year 2024, total 43,797 complaints regarding cyber frauds through WhatsApp were received followed by 22,680 complaints against Telegram and 19,800 against Instagram. The annual MHA report 2023-24 reads that cyber fraudsters have been using Google services platforms for initiating these crimes. Google Advertisement platform provides a convenient facility for targeted advertisement from across the border. “This scam, known as “Pig Butchering Scam” or “Investment Scam” is a global phenomenon and involves large-scale money laundering and even cyber slavery. Unemployed youths, housewives, students, and needy people are targeted, who are losing large sums of money (even borrowed money) on a daily basis,” it reads. A crime branch team of the Gurugram Police arrested a notorious criminal and his two companions after a gunfight on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, police said. The suspects have been identified as Arif (28), Arif alias Mandal (27), a resident of Palwal and Rashid alias Yusuf alias Kake (33), a resident of Nuh. According to the police, Rashid was involved in 49 cases, including gang-related activities, murder, attempt to murder, robbery, attack on police team and ATM thefts. New Delhi: Delhi Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a man from Bihar for allegedly selling sim cards to international cyber frauds, officials said. Police recovered 5,000 SIM cards and 25 mobile phones from Anuj Kumar’s possession. Kumar was arrested from Gaya in Bihar for supplying SIM cards to people in countries including China, Cambodia, and other South Asian nations. Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) Ravi Kumar Singh said a complaint was registered by the CA of a company saying that he was defrauded of Rs 20 lakh by a person impersonating himself as one of the directors of the company. Sensing the gravity of the offence, a dedicated team of cyber police station of the southeast district was formed.
