In 1st Meet, Delhi Cabinet Okays Health Scheme, Tabling Of Audit Reports

New Delhi: Keeping a key poll promise, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced after the first Cabinet meeting on Thursday that her government would implement the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme in the national capital. In a move that may ignite a political slugfest, the chief minister also said that 14 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports, whose tabling had allegedly been delayed by the previous AAP government, will now be presented in the Assembly. One berth on 7-member Delhi Cabinet still remains vacant | Delhi News

One of the ministerial berths in the seven-member Delhi Cabinet is likely to remain vacant for the time being. Along with CM-designate Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai, Imran Hussain, Kailash Gahlot, and new entrant, AAP Sultanpur Majra MLA Mukesh Ahlawat, will take the oath of office on Saturday. However, there is no word on who will be the seventh minister. A senior government official said, “The Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat has only been sent six names for the oath-taking ceremony on September 21.” A senior AAP functionary said that one berth would remain vacant but did not say why. Earlier this week, the AAP’s highest decision-making body – the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) – had met to deliberate on the way forward. Sources said various possibilities were discussed, ranging from naming a Dalit CM and potential additions to the Cabinet — two new entrants, a member from the Scheduled Caste community and a non-SC face.   Click here to join The Indian Express on WhatsApp and get latest news and updates Source link
