CISF recovers country-made pistol, live cartridge at Delhi Metro station

Alert personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) detected a country-made pistol along with a live cartridge during security screening at Mandi House Metro Station in New Delhi on Thursday, preventing the prohibited weapon from entering the metro. According to the CISF, the weapon was detected at 10.11 am during the routine security screening of a passenger at the station. CISF personnel immediately secured the individual and informed the Delhi Metro Rail Police (DMRP), Supreme Court. Delhi Police personnel reached the station shortly afterwards and took custody of the passenger and the recovered weapon. Teams from the Delhi Police Special Cell and the Crime Team also arrived at the spot to carry out a detailed investigation. Further legal proceedings are being undertaken by the Delhi Police, officials said. A 17-year-old boy died after jumping in front of a metro train at Delhi’s Uttam Nagar East station on Friday. The boy was taking coaching classes and was said to have been upset over personal issues. The body of a young boy was subsequently extracted from the track. On reaching the spot, police found that the person had jumped on the track from platform 1 of Uttam Nagar East metro station and subsequently got crushed under a train coming from Dwarka. Initial inquiry into the matter revealed that the boy was taking classes from a coaching centre while studying in Class 12. He was said to be upset over personal issues, police said. New Delhi As part of the initial pilot phase, dedicated bike taxi services shall be deployed at the Millennium City Centre station. (HT Archive) The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Wednesday announced that it would launch last-mile connectivity service at 10 Metro stations across the national capital region (NCR) through the Bharat Taxi mobile application by the end of the month. The service will be integrated with the DMRC’s Sarthi app and provide bike taxis, autorickshaws and four-wheeler cabs, officials said. The Bharat Taxi is a mobility platform run by Sahkar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL), a multistate cooperative backed by the Government of India, under an initiative of the ministry of cooperation.
