Dilli Dilwale trounces Chennai Super Champs for maiden win

Dilli Dillwale claimed its maiden win in the World Pickleball League 2025 with a commanding 4-1 win over Chennai Super Champs at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) in Mumbai on Sunday. Both teams entered the tie seeking their first win of the season, but Dilli proved to be the superior side, delivering a performance marked by dominance and determination. The tie began with the men’s singles clash between Eduardo Irizarry of Dilli and Edward Perez of Chennai. Irizarry raced to an early 5-0 lead, making his intentions clear in the 15-minute timed format. Despite a brief resurgence from Perez, including the introduction of young talent Sonu Vishwakarma through Pickle Play, Irizarry regained momentum and stormed to a 17-7 victory, giving Dilli a strong start. In the women’s doubles, Dilli’s Alexa Schull and Lauren Mercado continued the team’s dominance against Chennai’s Thaddea Lock and Sarah Jane Lim. World’s fastest growing sport makes a splash in India – Preview

Pickleball, the fastest-growing sport in the world, is all set to make a splash in India. The World Pickleball League, a franchise-based tournament held under the aegis of the All India Pickleball Federation, commenced on Friday at Mumbai. The inaugural edition of the league has six teams in the fray – Mumbai Pickle Power, Chennai Super Champs, Dilli Dilwale, Pune United, Bengaluru Jawans, and Hyderabad Super Stars – battle it out for ultimate glory at the CCI in Mumbai. Much like the sport in general, the World Pickleball League will see a mixture of youth and experience in the six teams with players from 14 countries across the globe. Each team consists of a total of eight players, taking the total tally of players picked up in the draft to 48. All the teams have at least one Indian player in their set-up. A total of 75 players from 20 countries were up for grabs in the draft. How the teams stack up? The home team – Mumbai Pickle Power – will get the tournament …
