A cardiologist at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag was suspended on Saturday after an official inquiry uncovered alleged large-scale medical irregularities, including unnecessary cardiac procedures on patients who experts said did not require them and fraudulent claims under the PMJAY-SEHAT scheme. An expert review found that 27 of the 55 patients who underwent advanced Left Bundle Branch Area Pacing (LBBAP) procedures had normal heart function and “there was absolutely no medical reason to perform such procedures”. She refused, but Manish never made a fuss about it. He never said anything to her (Meena) either. Manish felt Meena was not cleaning the house properly. He had been requesting his wife to fire her for two to three years,” said a senior police officer. Police said that the 54-year-old accused, who was also on antidepressants, was arrested and sent to two-day police custody by a Delhi court. A 26-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide in Ambernath on Tuesday after being subjected to relentless physical and mental harassment by her husband and in-laws over dowry demands. While her parents were planning to travel from Pune to Ambernath to intervene and discuss the matter with her in-laws, Vishakha, unable to bear the continuous humiliation and torture, ended her life on Tuesday.
