Video: Heavy rain, dust storm batter Delhi-NCR as IMD issues red alert
Heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Monday afternoon as a dust storm swept through the region, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a red alert for the national capital. The sudden change in weather disrupted normal life and affected traffic movement across several areas. Residents witnessed dark skies, gusty winds and scattered thunderstorms as an active western disturbance influenced weather conditions across northwest India. Delhi experienced steady rainfall from Monday morning, providing relief from the intense summer heat that had gripped the city in recent weeks. The capital recorded partly cloudy conditions with temperatures around 38 degrees Celsius during the day. According to forecasts, the maximum temperature was expected to touch 39 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was likely to remain around 27 degrees Celsius. Several weather observatories, including Palam and Ayanagar, recorded light rainfall during the morning hours before heavier showers arrived later in the day. #WATCH | Delhi witnesses a weather change as a dust storm sweeps across the Dwarka Sector 12 Metro station area. pic.twitter.com/5JyMlBsk6J …
