Heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Monday afternoon as a dust storm swept through the region, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a red alert for the national capital. The sudden change in weather disrupted normal life and affected traffic movement across several areas. Residents witnessed dark skies, gusty winds and scattered thunderstorms as an active western disturbance influenced weather conditions across northwest India. Delhi experienced steady rainfall from Monday morning, providing relief from the intense summer heat that had gripped the city in recent weeks. The capital recorded partly cloudy conditions with temperatures around 38 degrees Celsius during the day. According to forecasts, the maximum temperature was expected to touch 39 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was likely to remain around 27 degrees Celsius. A massive dust storm swept across Rajasthan`s Churu district on Monday, dramatically reducing visibility and leaving residents shocked as towering walls of dust engulfed the city within minutes. The video of the incident went viral.  The storm struck around 2 pm, bringing strong winds of nearly 70 kmph and creating near-dark conditions across several parts of the district. NOIDA: The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas has flagged multiple violations related to road dust and construction and demolition (C&D) waste management in Noida following a large-scale inspection drive carried out across the city on Friday, according to an official statement released on Saturday. The flight crew opted to divert the carrier to Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal, the official said.
