The project intends to digitise milking records and link them to the milch animals, thereby helping authorities monitor real milk output. The initiative is in its nascent stage and will be rolled out once the project report for digitisation of milking records is completed, Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe told The Hindu. “We have started a project to start a portal. All the milk collection centres will have to upload their data on that portal. The portal will be made, managed and monitored by the FDA. We will have access to this data and the data of the milch animals in that region which is uploaded on NDLM. This data will be available at the back-end. Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe on Saturday shared his views on the younger generation, urging Gen Z to follow its own aspirations and conscience rather than simply following the crowd. “Do not blindly follow others. Learn the good qualities from everyone, but create your own identity,” he said. He encouraged young people to take an active role in bringing about positive changes in society rather than simply “drifting with the current”. The FDA chief also cautioned young people about excessive use of digital platforms. He said the younger generation’s attention span had reduced while daily screen time had increased. “In the digital age, the attention span of the younger generation has come down to around eight seconds, while screen time has increased to eight or nine hours,” he said, as per the PTI. Ltd. after inspections allegedly revealed repeated regulatory violations and serious failures to meet safety and quality standards, an official statement said. The company’s manufacturing unit, located in the Jejuri MIDC area of Purandar taluka, was found to be in violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and Schedule-T Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). A division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Ravindra V Ghuge and Justice Gautam A Ankhad directed the State to submit a report by July 31 detailing the inspections carried across the State, including canteens operated directly or on a contract basis with government departments. The Bench is hearing a petition filed by Sanjay Nirbhavane, HR head of a five-star hotel in Navi Mumbai. The hotel has challenged the suspension of its Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licence for alleged violations under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. In a major move to strengthen the safety, transparency, and quality of blood stock management, the Maharashtra Public Health Department, through the State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC), launched a statewide surprise inspection drive at blood centres. As part of the special campaign, all the blood centres in Pune, Solapur, Nashik, and Mumbai were subjected to unannounced inspections between July 17 and 19. The special drive was conducted in accordance with the directives issued by the SBTC on June 27. The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized food items worth over Rs 1.85 crore, including prohibited gutkha and pan masala, during a statewide special inspection drive conducted between July 16 and 20. The drive resulted in the registration of 37 first information reports (FIRs), the arrest of 49 persons, and the suspension of licences of 16 food establishments, officials said on Tuesday. According to an official press release, the raids were carried out under the ‘Safe Food, Safe Maharashtra’ campaign, led by Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe. During the five-day drive, officials conducted 53 raids across the state, seizing 1,731 litres of milk and 896 kg of dairy products worth Rs 1.44 lakh, besides prohibited food items valued at Rs 1.80 crore. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on July 4 and 5 busted synthetic milk racket made from shampoo, detergents and palm oil across five districts of Maharashtra and arrested 13 persons. FDA also seized shampoo, detergents, palm oil, emulsifiers, etc. worth ₹1.48 crores, which were allegedly used to make the milk. (Representative Photo/iStock) “We did not just stop at acting against one single adulterating firm but acted against the entire supply chain network involving distributors, transporters, middlemen, chilling centres and processing centres.” FDA commissioner Tukaram Munde said. Simultaneous raids were conducted across five districts, including Thane, Ahilyanagar, Solapur, Jalna and Pune and cases against 26 persons have been filed. The FDA also seized shampoo, detergents, palm oil, emulsifiers, etc. worth ₹1.48 crores, which were allegedly used to make the milk. All these items were found to be sourced from Manchar in Pune. Over 49 samples of adulterated milk were also collected for testing. FDA officials identified Sushant Hinge from Pune as the kingpin and Sandeep Lodha operated as his advisor.
