The 28-year-old transgender man approached the High Court after a private fertility centre refused to provide the service. For this, the centre cited that the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Act did not contain any provision to permit the extension of such a service to a transgender person. While hearing the plea, the High Court directed that the clinic that the person chose ought to take steps to retrieve and preserve his eggs so that they can be used for reproduction at a later stage in his life.
