Indian men’s team exit in group stage

The Indian men’s basketball team bowed out of the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup in the group stage on Friday. Having qualified for the main draw following a three-match unbeaten run in the qualifying round on Wednesday, the Indian cagers were unable to sustain the momentum to advance to the knockouts. The team consisting of Pranav Prince, Harsh Dagar, Arvind Muthu, and Kushal Singh lost both their Group A matches against New Zealand and Qatar. The Indians started well against New Zealand, racing to an early 3-0 lead via Harsh and Arvind. However they committed multiple errors, especially towards the fag end of the match as New Zealand took advantage of the free throws to register a convincing 16-11 victory. Later, pitted against Qatar in a must win encounter, India went down 10-16. They trailed 3-9 in the contest before fighting back briefly to reduce the deficit to four points at 8-12. Indian men qualify for main draw

The Indian men’s basketball team qualified for the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup main draw for a second consecutive year, topping their qualifying round group on Wednesday. The Indian team consisting of Pranav Prince, Harsh Dagar, Arvind Muthu, and Kushal Singh registered victories over Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, and Bahrain to top Group D and qualify for the main draw. Led by a stellar nine points by Pranav and five points by Arvind, they started their campaign with a 20-18 win over world Kazakhstan. Indian women’s team into the main draw with 3 wins

India women’s 3×3 basketball team booked their place in the main draw with two clinical wins over Indonesia and Hong Kong respectively while the men’s team took a hammering against Malaysia to bow out of the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup Qualifying round in Singapore on Wednesday. The women’s team started the day with an 18-12 win over Hong Kong showcasing a very good physical game in which they also gave 10+ fouls to the opponents but they couldn’t capitalize on that and missed a lot of free throw opportunities. Pushpa Senthil Kumar used her reach very well to win 50% points of the team’s points in this match including a 2-pointer. India won the match but their centre, Kavya Singla suffered a very bad Knee Injury and could not take part in the day’s play. Indian men’s team one win away from main draw

India men’s 3×3 basketball team kickstarted their campaign with two comfortable wins over Macau and Maldives respectively while the women’s team took a dominating 21-1 victory over Northern Mariana Islands at the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup Qualifying round in Singapore on Wednesday. The men’s team started the day with a 21-10 win over the Maldives after Pranav Prince’s top-class performance who scored eight points and a clinical Sahaij Sekhon who clinched seven points. The Maldives started positively and scored four two-pointers to start with, but then Sekhon with his swift movement turned the tables. They followed up the same momentum in the second game and claimed their back-to-back victory ( 21-13) against Macau.
