But this year, it’s different. Vendors had also approached the High Court seeking directions to the State government to lift the blanket ban on the sale of crackers and the government issued permits to set up stalls this year.  Now, Attibele is bustling with over 100 cracker stalls set up and large crowds buying crackers. Despite the government imposing a ban on non-green crackers, this rule does not seem to apply to shops in this locality. A blast at an illegal firecracker-making unit at a house in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district on Monday resulted in the death of two individuals, including a boy, and left three others injured. As per the police, the explosion occurred at the residence of Mohammad Farooq in Ragadganj village, where firecrackers were being produced at the time. Upon receiving information about the incident, police and administration officials arrived at the scene and initiated a rescue operation. The deceased persons have been identified as Akash (15) and Lallu (30). On the way to the medical college Akash and Lallu died, while other three —  Ishtiyaq (40), Ayaas (17) and Krishna Kumar (24)– got injured.  Dr Deepak Singh said that the other three are critical and have been referred to Lucknow for better treatment. 14 injured in explosion in illegal firecracker factory operating in residential building – India TV

Image Source : X Representational image At least fourteen people were injured after an explosion in a residential building in Ravulacheruvu, Amalapuram town, Andhra Pradesh on Monday. According to police, the blast occurred in a residential building in Ambedkar Konaseema district on Monday, where firecrackers were being manufactured illegally.  The intensity of the blast was so high that the two-story building was severely damaged.  “An explosion occurred in a residential building in Ravulacheruvu, Amalapuram town while firecrackers were being manufactured inside illegally. 14 people sustained injuries and were rushed to the Amalapuram Area Hospital. The two-storey building suffered severe damages,” said Dr. BR Ambedkar Konaseema District SP,  B. Krishna Rao. Locals took injured people to the Amalapuram Area Hospital. The condition of one injured is said to be critical.  Police personnel from the Amalapuram Town Police station rushed to the site and initiated a probe into the explosion. One killed, three injured in blast at firecracker unit in Salem

A worker was killed and three others suffered injuries in an explosion at a firecracker unit in Paruthikadu village, near Ayodhiyapattinam, in Salem district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday (September 4, 2024). The police said at 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday, four workers were unloading raw materials used for making firecrackers from a vehicle, and as they were placing them in the unit, a spark triggered the explosion that spread to the stocked raw materials and firecrackers, bringing down the whole unit. Jeyaraman, a 55-year-old Sivakasi native, died on the way to the hospital while three others suffered injuries. They were admitted to the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital. Fire and Rescue Services personnel put out the fire. Revenue officials, meanwhile, inspected the damaged unit. A case has been registered by the Veeranam police. Source link

Toll rises to 9 in firecracker blast in Tamil Nadu’s Sivakasi | Chennai News

Nine workers, including five women, died and 10 others were injured in a blaze at a fireworks-manufacturing unit in Sivakasi on Thursday, police said. The accident occurred near Sengamalapatti in Sivakasi in the district. Seven rooms stocked with firecrackers were completely gutted in the fire, they said. Police and fire service personnel rushed the injured to a government hospital in Sivakasi. A senior police official said the cause of the fire was being ascertained and added that the unit was a licensed one. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed anguish at the loss of lives in the incident. In a post on ‘X’, he said, “Anguished by the loss of lives due to a mishap at a factory in Sivakasi. My thoughts are with the bereaved families.
