‘Domain of expert bodies’: Delhi High Court refuses to fix Army officer’s 15-year-old career report | Legal News

6 min readNew DelhiMay 18, 2026 12:43 PM IST The Delhi High Court has dismissed a plea filed by a serving lieutenant colonel of the Indian Army challenging the technical validity of his Confidential Reports (CRs) for the years 2010 and 2011. A bench of Justices Anil Kshetarpal and Amit Mahajan was hearing an Army officer’s plea seeking the expunction of three CRs relating to the period from January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2010, and from June 20, 2011, to December 31, 2011, and challenging the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) order that earlier dismissed his plea. “It is also well delineated that the assessment of Confidential Reports and suitability for promotion falls squarely within the domain of the competent authorities and expert bodies,” the court said on May 16. The CRs, also known as Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs), are the primary and definitive performance appraisal documents in the Indian Army. They assess an individual’s character, leadership qualities, and professional competence. These reports directly dictate an officer’s career trajectory, including promotions, postings, and selection for …

GMDA seeks nod for culvert on NH-48 to fix Narsinghpur waterlogging

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has proposed construction of a culvert on NH-48 at Narsinghpur to address recurring waterlogging on the highway during monsoon, officials said on Tuesday. GMDA seeks nod for culvert on NH-48 to fix Narsinghpur waterlogging A GMDA spokesperson said the issue was taken up by CEO PC Meena with NHAI during inspections of storm water drains and flood preparedness across the city on Monday. Water from Narsinghpur and adjoining sectors often accumulates on this stretch, leading to severe waterlogging, officials said. Meena inspected the under-construction stormwater channel from Narsinghpur service lane to the Badshahpur drain, which officials said will help ease flooding. “CEO GMDA further engaged in on-site discussions with the Chairman, NHAI, to facilitate construction of a culvert on NH-48 for better drainage management along this stretch”, the spokesperson added. A senior GMDA official said the authority will meet NHAI officials at its Dwarka headquarters on Wednesday. “The construction of a culvert at this location will reduce waterlogging considerably, as stormwater from the eastern side of the highway will …

The freeze and the fix: Anshul Kamboj, the Test that stalled him and the IPL that rebuilt him | Cricket News

“I really don’t know what happened with Anshul. It was like he froze.” Satish Rana has asked his pupil the same question many times since last July. Soon after the Test. Weeks after Anshul Kamboj returned to Karnal. The answer has never changed. He didn’t know why he bowled the way he did. He didn’t feel pressure. There were no fitness issues. No warning signs. But whatever the reason, he simply couldn’t bowl in that Test. Kamboj had flown to Manchester as a replacement, seen by India’s think-tank as a seamer suited to English conditions — someone who could operate in the mid-130s, touch 140, and move the ball both ways. What India got instead was a bowler who ambled in at 125kph, almost anonymous in a match that demanded more from him. Nobody had an explanation. Not the support staff. Not captain Shubman Gill. Not Rana. Not even Kamboj himself. “I’ve been coaching him since childhood and I’ve never seen him have a day like that,” Rana says. “It was new not just for …

‘How well are you watching the ball?’: The simple six-word question from Hayden that helped fix Jos Buttler’s form | Ipl News

3 min readUpdated: Apr 12, 2026 09:10 PM IST After a match-winning 37-ball 60 against Lucknow Super Giants, Jos Buttler credited former Australia star Matthew Hayden with helping him after a wretched T20 World Cup for England. A man who terrorised bowlers at the top of the order, Hayden has been hired as a batting coach for Gujarat Titans. Buttler said that a simple question from Hayden, in one of their earliest sessions together, had worked wonders for him. “He just asked actually one of the first few sessions, ‘how well are you watching the ball? It doesn’t look like you’re tracking it that well’. So, you know, great players like him with the most simple advice, which is nice. And yeah, he’s been great,” Buttler told JioHotstar after helping the Titans beat Lucknow Super Giants by seven wickets on Sunday at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. “I’ve really enjoyed spending time with him. Obviously, he’s got a big presence and that aura. So when he speaks, you listen,” he added. Playing for England at the recent …

‘Isn’t about too much water’: Dietitian shares real reason menopause causes sudden bloating; gynaecologist on how to fix it | Health News

4 min readNew DelhiApr 4, 2026 12:00 AM IST Bloating, puffiness and a feeling of heaviness are common complaints during menopause, yet many women struggle to understand why they suddenly retain more fluid despite drinking water, eating normally or staying active. In an Instagram post, dietitian Shweta J Panchal explained that menopause-related bloating is less about excess water and more about internal imbalances.  In the caption, she wrote, “Menopause water retention isn’t about ‘too much water’ — it’s about imbalance.” According to her, fluid retention during menopause can increase due to changes in hormones, mineral levels and circulation. She added that when sodium levels are high, and potassium or magnesium levels drop, the body may hold on to fluid as a protective response. “During menopause, fluid retention often increases due to shifts in hormones, minerals, and circulation. When sodium is high, and potassium or magnesium is low, the body holds on to water.” Her suggestions focused on restoring balance rather than eliminating certain nutrients entirely. She noted that “🥑 Potassium-rich foods (like potatoes, spinach, coconut …

The Simple Daily Trick That May Fix Posture and Ease Back Pain

3 min readNew DelhiApr 1, 2026 08:00 AM IST Malaika Arora, 52, recently laughed about her peculiar walk, candidly admitting the “duck walk” actually helps her. “How I walk? (laughs). Believe it or not, my doctor says… because I keep getting lower back problems from wearing a lot of heels and stuff like that… he tells me to not forget to walk every day by keeping my feet in. 10-15 steps in the morning and 10-15 steps at night. I do my duck walk every day. It really helps you with alignment. People tend to slouch…it helps,” the Dil Se actor told Curly Tales. We reached out to Dr Sarang Deshpande, consultant in orthopaedics and joint replacement at KIMS Hospitals, Thane, who said that a duck walk is a controlled walking pattern. “In this movement, the feet are slightly turned inward, and the steps are taken slowly and mindfully. This may seem odd, but the goal is to retrain the body’s alignment,” said D Deshpande. DISCLAIMER: This article is based on information from the public domain …
