(HT File) According to the inspection report submitted with the NGT, the inspection was carried out on April 21 in which the committee found that untreated leachate from the dumping site was flowing into nearby agricultural fields during rains, creating risk of pollution and groundwater contamination. The panel said fresh waste was not being scientifically processed and large heaps of old “legacy waste” were lying untreated at the site. It also found that waste processing capacity was much lower than the daily waste generated, leading to continuous piling up of garbage. The report highlighted that no groundwater monitoring system, proper fire safety arrangements or vehicle washing facility existed at the site. She ignored ovarian cancer warning: Why loss of appetite, feeling too full and bloating are red flags? | Health and Wellness News

For nearly four months, a 51-year-old school teacher believed her symptoms were linked to age, stress and digestive trouble. She had gradually stopped enjoying meals because she felt unusually full after eating only a few bites. Her abdomen often felt bloated by evening. A cup of tea was followed by acidity. Dinner became uncomfortable. She began skipping meals, assuming menopause and erratic eating habits were upsetting her stomach. Her family noticed she had lost weight but she dismissed concerns casually. “I just don’t feel hungry anymore,” she told them. By the time she finally sought medical attention after persistent abdominal discomfort and fatigue, scans revealed advanced ovarian cancer. Doctors say this pattern is tragically common. Loss of appetite is rarely the first symptom people associate with cancer. Most women attribute it to indigestion, stress, gastritis, hormonal changes or temporary illness. Yet persistent appetite loss — especially when combined with bloating, abdominal heaviness or feeling full very quickly — can sometimes signal something far more serious. Among the cancers most notorious for hiding behind vague digestive …

‘Human impact will be massive’: Congress leader flags concerns over new US policy for Green Card seekers

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Shukla on Saturday expressed concern over the recent change in immigration policy affecting foreign nationals applying for a Green Card in the US. The United States issues more than one million Green Cards every year. (Unsplash/Representational Image) The announcement by US citizenship and immigration services (USCIS) said that foreign nationals staying in the US on a temporary basis and wanting to become lawful permanent residents, commonly known as Green Card holders, would need to leave the country and apply from their place of origin. The only exception would be in “extraordinary circumstances”, and USCIS officials would decide whether applicants qualify under those conditions. However, the US later rolled back certain parts of the policy, offering relief to international professionals, including Indian workers. Rajeev Shukla says ‘human impact will be massive’ In a statement posted on X, the Congress leader expressed concerns over the recent immigration policy shift adopted by the US. He said the decision could “cause immense hardship” and that immigration policies affect people who have spent years building …

Delhi Police says 67% lost & stolen phones recovered, but top cop flags data ‘incorrect’ | India News

3 min readMay 23, 2026 06:35 PM IST In the first 138 days of the year, the Delhi Police claimed it to have traced over 21,751 stolen and lost mobile phones, unlocked 14,613 devices, and returned 7,560 devices to the respective owners — a recovery rate of about 67 per cent — data that the police chief later flagged to be incorrect. The Delhi Police recovered the devices with the help of Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR). But after conducting a district-wise review of the CEIR data, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha has found disparities in the data, asking the force to reverify it. He has also directed the JCPs and DCPs to improve district-wise performance and ensure accuracy, accountability and effective utilisation of the CEIR portal. In an official communication, sent to senior police officers by the Delhi Police headquarters on May 19, it was stated that CP Golchha scanned the data furnished by all the 15 districts along with the records available on CEIR portal from January 1 to May 18 this year. …
