Mumbai Indians not ready to drop Suryakumar Yadav, but recurring IPL 2026 struggles raise red flags

Mumbai Indians not ready to drop Suryakumar Yadav, but recurring IPL 2026 struggles raise red flags

It was only a year ago that Suryakumar Yadav was named the MVP of IPL 2025. It wasn’t just the 717 runs at an average of 65.18 or his strike rate of 167.91. He became the first non-opener to breach the 700-run mark, doing things that only SKY could pull off. Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav walks off field after his dismissal by CSK’s Ramakrishna Ghosh during an IPL 2026 match (PTI) In the year since, he has maintained a strike rate close to 150, which by any standard is excellent in T20 cricket. But his average has dropped to 29 across competitions and, more worryingly, to just 20.33 in this IPL season. So what changed? Suryakumar’s struggles in T20 cricket over the last year have been no secret. It was a concern even before the start of this year, when India were a month away from the T20 World Cup at home. He responded with three fifties in the home series against New Zealand, followed by a match-saving 84* against the USA in the tournament …

India flags mitigation gap by rich nations in 2031-35 climate plan

India has flagged “mitigation ambition gap” by developed countries in its climate plan for the 2031-35 period submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, pointing out that achieving the targets laid out in this, for India and other developing countries, is contingent on the availability of adequate climate finance. India has articulated that India’s NDC is guided by the vision of Vikshit Bharat by 2047. (Representative file photo) HT reported on March 26 that the Cabinet has approved enhanced climate targets for the 2031-2035 period under the Paris Agreement, raising its commitments on emissions, clean energy, and forests at a time when the United States has withdrawn from the global climate framework and several developed nations are scaling back ambition. Specifically, India has committed to three quantitative goals: achieving around 60% cumulative electric power installed capacity from non-fossil fuel-based energy resources by 2035, with the help of transfer of technology and low-cost international finance ; reducing emissions Intensity of its GDP by 47% by 2035, from 2005 level and ; creating a …

(Photos: delhihighcourt.nic.in, HT File) The AAP chief also detailed a “sequence of events” and alleged conflict of interest for the judge who earlier this month refused to recuse from the case upon Kejriwal’s plea. On Monday, in his four-page letter to the Delhi judge on the same subject, Kejriwal wrote: “Your Ladyship was elevated to the High Court of Delhi in March 2022. A little over five months later, in September 2022, your son was empanelled as the Union’s Group A counsel for the Supreme Court.” He went on to detail …

India submits revised NDCs; flags inadequate means of implementation

India has committed to achieving about 60% cumulative electric power installed capacity from non-fossil fuel-based energy resources by 2035, with the help of the technology transfer and low-cost international finance, as it submitted its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) for 2031-35. It pledged to reduce the intensity of its GDP emissions by 47% by 2035, from the 2005 level, and create a carbon sink of 3.5 to 4 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalent through forest and tree cover by 2035, as compared to the baseline year of 2005. India has flagged the “mitigation ambition gap” by developed countries. NDCs are non-binding, voluntary climate action plans that countries submit every five years under the Paris Agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change. India flagged the “mitigation ambition gap” by developed countries and the exacerbation of global warming due to their inadequate response. Allahabad HC flags low pay for UP doctors, seeks data on ventilators

4 min readLucknowApr 23, 2026 01:22 PM IST The Allahabad High Court Wednesday flagged concerns over low salaries of government doctors, observing that inadequate pay is pushing them to move to private hospitals, depriving ordinary citizens of their expertise. A Division Bench of Justices Rajan Roy and Manjive Shukla said in its order, “It is a question to be pondered by the Union of India and the State Government as to how far it is reasonable and justified to club doctors and other specialists with other cadres of the bureaucracy for determining their pay structure.” “The services rendered by the doctors are much more important than the services being rendered by other functionaries in the bureaucracy for obvious reasons, as it is related to the very sustenance of a citizen and the Right to Life,” observed the bench.
